On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said 142,000 jobs were created in August, well below the 161,000 expected by economists. Against this backdrop, we used the CNBC Pro Stock Screener tool to find consumer staple stocks that could outperform going forward. Kroger is expected to gain more than 12% going forward, based on analysts consensus price targets.

Daniel Pinto, president and chief operating officer of JPMorgan Chase, speaks during the Semafor 2024 World Economy Summit in Washington, DC, on April 18, 2024. JPMorgan Chase shares fell 7% Tuesday after the bank's president told analysts that expectations for net interest income and expenses in 2025 were too optimistic. "I think that that number will be lower," Pinto said. When interest rates decline, new loans made by the bank and new bonds it purchases will yield less. When it comes to trading, JPMorgan said it expects third-quarter revenue to be flat to up about 2% from a year ago, while investment banking fees are headed for a 15% jump.

The reviews on Wall Street are mixed concerning Monday's iPhone launch event. Apple Intelligence represents a paradigm shift for the company and the iPhone 16 is the ticket into this new generation. That's what will in turn drive demand, both in terms of Apple rolling out Apple Intelligence and developers taking advantage of the new hardware capabilities. The iPhone 16 and the Pro models will be equipped with versions of the new A18 chips. However, even those phones weren't built from the ground up in the way the iPhone 16 is to harness the full power of Apple's AI features.

Wells Fargo bank analyst Mike Mayo highlighted Citigroup stock as his favorite bank name on Tuesday while speaking on CNBC's " Squawk on the Street ." Shares of Citigroup could double over the next two-and-a-half years "simply by going back to tangible book value," Mayo said. Citigroup sold for 73% of tangible book at the end of June, up from 60% at the end of last December, according to FactSet data. Apple on Monday charged into the artificial intelligence craze with a new iPhone lineup that marks the company’s latest attempt to latch onto a technology trend and transform it into a cultural phenomenon. The four different iPhone 16 models will all come equipped with special chips needed to power a suite if AI tools that Apple hopes will make its marquee product even more indispensable and reverse a recent sales slump. Most of Apple’s AI functions will roll out as part of a free software update to iOS 18, the operating system that will power the iPhone 16 coming out in December. English will be the featured language at launch but an update enabling other languages will come out next year, according to Apple. Although Apple is releasing a free version of its operating system to propel its on-device AI features, the chip needed to run the technology is only available on the iPhone 16 lineup and the high-end iPhone 15 models that came out a year ago.

Hybe Corporation is the largest and listed on the blue-chip Kospi, while SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment are on the small-cap Kosdaq. MarineMax is a smart pick for investors looking for beneficiaries of lower interest rates, according to Citi. Analyst James Hardiman upgraded shares of the boat dealer to buy from neutral and upped his price target by $4, or 10%, to $44. Key to Hardiman's upgrade is the idea that the stock can get a boost when the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates. After holding interest rates steady at 5.25% to 5.50% for more than a year, the long-awaited first cut may come as soon as next week. Shares briefly popped more than 7% in early Monday trading, a reprieve after a tough 2024, when MarineMax shares have tumbled more than 21%.

Despite a 7% rebound on Monday, Trump Media has lost nearlythree-quarters (72%) of its value since peaking at $66.22 on March 27. The wipeout reinforces concerns raised by experts who have repeatedly warned that Trump Media’s multi-billion-dollar price tag defies logic. The company is losing money, generating very little revenue and Truth Social remains a relatively tiny player in social media. In August, Trump Media launched Truth+, a TV streaming platform on iOS, Android and the Web versions of Truth Social. It’s possible Trump Media’s stock market fortunes could turn, especially with the former president’s high-profile debate Tuesday with Harris.

How to trade Adobe's upcoming earnings using options

I'll break down various option trade scenarios into the earnings, focusing on one that will benefit from a big move in any direction. Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription model generates recurring revenue and maintains a solid customer base, from freelancers to large enterprises. Adobe's Document Cloud, featuring Acrobat and PDF solutions, is critical in digital document management and e-signatures. Of course, any bears out there could also use a calendar to bet on a downside move, using a $500 Sep/Jan put calendar. Combining the call and put calendar is a trade I usually refer to as a strangle swap.
