Jan 6. committee members Schiff and Cheney spoke about the Capitol riot investigation on Sunday. But they said the panel will give a unanimous verdict either way when it decides whether to refer Trump for prosecution. When the committee concludes its investigation, which was launched more than a year ago, it will decide whether or not to refer Trump for prosecution by the Justice Department. Committee members have previously given mixed signals about whether Trump will be referred for prosecution, with Rep. Bennie Thompson's saying in June that the panel would not refer the former president for prosecution. He met with resistance from other committee members.
Every Tomboy Is Tagged ‘Transgender’

The number of young Americans who describe themselves as “transgender” has exploded over the past decade, increasing by a factor of 20 to 40, according to gender clinic referral data and a recent Williams Institute report based on surveys by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Jody Herman , author of the report, calls that a “bewildering question.” Clinical psychologist Erica Anderson tweeted that the surge “defies explanation. . . . Something is going on that we don’t yet understand.”The two leading explanations are greater social acceptance and social contagion. Both are likely contributing factors, but I think the main reason is simpler. It comes down to a change in terminology.
A decade-old scandal at a Massachusetts crime lab — which led authorities to dismiss tens of thousands of drug convictions — may involve wrongdoing by more people than was previously known, according to a recent court order. At least one person was referred to the state attorney general’s office in 2015 for potential prosecution, Judge John T. Lu wrote last week. The ruling stokes lingering doubts about statements by the state inspector general’s office over the past eight years that Dookhan was the “sole bad actor” at the Hinton lab. Bizuayehu Tesfaye / APDookhan’s misconduct at the Hinton lab was exposed in 2012, after she had worked there for nearly a decade. A spokesman for the inspector general’s office declined to comment, citing ongoing litigation.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks about transgender athletes during the America First Agenda Summit, at the Marriott Marquis hotel July 26, 2022 in Washington, DC. He also shared a number of attacks on James from news sources and other social media accounts. In a Truth Social post Wednesday afternoon, Trump denounced the new lawsuit as "another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General," referring to James, who is Black. He shared links from conservative news outlets with headlines such as "Trump Is The Greatest Man Alive" and "History Is Calling Donald Trump." Yet on Thursday, he re-posted the conservative blog headlines "Trump is running," "The Washington Establishment Fears A Second Term Trump" and "Donald Trump Must Be The 2024 Republican Nominee."
New York Attorney General Letitia James filed suit on Wednesday against former President Donald Trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Organization in connection with her years-long civil investigation into the company’s business practices. The lawsuit alleges years of bank, tax, and insurance fraud, with penalties that could seek to halt Trump’s ability to do business in New York for several years and includes a referral for possible federal prosecution. The Trumps and their company have denied any wrongdoing. Below is the full text of James' civil complaint.
Law enforcement activity has not pushed these false electors from their political perches. Al Drago / Bloomberg via Getty ImagesAll told, 23 of those false electors hold positions of power within their Republican parties. Then there are additional actors that didn’t serve in the slate of false electors themselves but were instrumental in the scheme. Others hold positions of power within the state GOP, including Shafer, who is chair; Joseph Brannan, state GOP treasurer; Vikki Consiglio, the state party’s assistant treasurer; and Ken Carroll, the assistant secretary. On June 21, federal agents scattered across key states to deliver subpoenas to those who acted as Trump electors.
Twitch on Tuesday announced a ban on streaming unlicensed gambling sites, including slots, roulette and dice websites, starting next month. More websites may be banned at a later date, Twitch said in a statement posted to Twitter. A number of creators have been pushing Twitch to do something about online gambling streams, citing potential dangers to younger users. Twitch had already prohibited users from sharing links or referral codes to sites that include slots, roulette or dice games. A spokesperson for Twitch said the company has no further comment beyond the statement posted to Twitter.
The money I've saved is equivalent to what I'd have spent on long-term rentals or short-term Airbnb rentals. My tiny studio in Durban was $220 a month, excluding utilities, and it was in a cheap area in someone's backyard. The trade-off is I get free accommodation, while the homeowner gets free house- and pet-sitting. I've received multiple invitations for house-sits that I didn't apply for, including a six-month house-sit in Costa Rica that I wasn't available for. Under "My experience," the final section, I detailed the type of house-sits I've done and the various animals I've looked after.
Twitch said it is planning to ban the streaming of certain crypto gambling websites in an effort to protect users from potential harm. The ban will prohibit streaming of sites including slots, roulette and dice websites that aren't licensed in the U.S. or "other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection". The policy change comes after some of the platform's top streamers threatened to stop using the platform if Twitch didn't change its policy on gambling streams. Twitch said the ban applies to sites including Stake.com, Rollbit.com and Duelbits.com and that it "may identify others as we move forward." Twitch's current community guidelines already prohibit streamers from referring viewers to sites that include slots, roulette or dice games or sharing affiliate links or referral codes to such sites.
New York Attorney General Letitia James speaks during a press conference regarding former US President Donald Trump and his family's financial fraud case on September 21, 2022 in New York. New York Attorney General Letitia James said Wednesday her office believes it has uncovered federal crimes by former President Donald Trump and others, including bank fraud and lying to financial institutions. James said her office has sent a criminal referral to federal prosecutors in Manhattan and the IRS. "We are aware of the New York Attorney General's referral, and beyond that decline to comment further," a spokesman for the Manhattan federal prosecutors' office told NBC News. Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, in a statement Wednesday accused James of filing the civil lawsuit to advance her "political agenda."
New York (CNN Business) Live-streaming giant Twitch on Tuesday said it will take additional steps to crack down on unlicensed gambling content on its platform after facing backlash from some of its top creators. Sites for sports betting, fantasy sports and poker will continue to be allowed on the platform. Gambling has found a foothold on Twitch. "Slots," where viewers can watch streamers bet in cryptocurrency in online casinos, is now the tenth-most-watched game on Twitch, according to TwitchTracker. Sites like Stake.com, impacted by the announced ban, have sponsored streams on Twitch to attract new players and allow them to use cryptocurrencies to gamble on their platform.

What are credit card and bank rewards points worth? One great feature of the program is that all points are equal, so any account that earns Membership Rewards points has access to transfer partners. If you're a Bank of America Preferred Rewards customer, you'll earn 25% to 75% more points, depending on how much you have on deposit, but your rewards points are still worth 1 cent apiece. However, those miles expire after 36 months regardless of your account activity, so only transfer miles when you have immediate plans to redeem them. Non-elite members may transfer points to other members with the same address, provided both parties have been members for at least one year.
