She pronounced it with the accent on the first syllable — “ON-boarding” — even though we pronounce the original expression “on BOARD.” Believe it or not, this got me thinking about mayonnaise. More specifically, it reminded me of an old radio commercial that has always stuck in my mind for the way, in the last line, the announcer pronounces the name of the product with a subtle emphasis on the last word: “Miracle WHIP.” (He made it sound rather exquisite: “Miracle Whip has such a wonderful flavor — lively and teasing, peppy and yet not a bit too sharp. It’s a flavor that’s just exactly right!”) Today we put the weight on the first word, “MIRACLE Whip.”If you listen for it, you can hear a similar shift in many different places. The insects, which are not usually found in South America, were worn out with holes and tears in their wings. Tracking a butterflyResearchers took a few crucial steps to confirm these out-of-place butterflies really did travel across the ocean. By this method, the scientists concluded the butterflies’ birthplace to be in either Western Europe, North Africa or West Africa, she added. Families who lost loved ones in the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, said the Thursday arrest of former school district police chief Pete Arredondo is not a “happy moment” and are calling for more indictments. Arredondo, 52, was arrested on an indictment charging him with 10 counts of abandoning/endangering a child in connection with the May 24, 2022, school shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers. Those 10 counts are in connection with schoolchildren who survived the shooting, but experienced delays in receiving care and protection.
