There's never been a better time to be a DINK

One variant of the DINK is the DINKWAD , double income couples without kids — but with a dog. AdvertisementAdvertisement"Some of those savings might ripple into an accumulation and increase in net worth," Heggeness said. What's more, the cost of raising one child to their high school years is estimated to be $310,605 — the bulk of a median DINK's net worth. For instance, single Americans with children have seen their net worth more than double over the last decade, and their net worth is outpacing younger, childless singles. Now, that rise in net worth might be due to the changing dynamics of how single parents are arriving at their destination.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Federal law that prohibits insurers from denying healthcare based on preexisting conditions, or kicking dependents off their parent’s coverage until age 26, is now codified separately into Michigan law. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Thursday that attempts to duplicate the Affordable Care Act, known as “Obamacare,” into state law. Earlier this year, a federal judge struck down the ACA preventive care provision. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that 150 million people in private health plans have benefited from the no-cost preventive services. A number of other states have codified Affordable Care Act provisions into state law.

UN Renews Haiti Sanction Regime Amid Calls for Faster Action

By Sarah Morland(Reuters) - The United Nations Security Council on Thursday renewed for one year its sanctions regime on Haiti, which currently includes just one individual, as Haiti and China called for faster action. "This situation of only one person on the designated list must be changed as soon as possible," said China's deputy U.N. Many Caribbean leaders have pointed to the United States as the source of illegal firearms flooding the region. Earlier this month, the U.N. authorized deployment of a multinational force to Haiti to aid police, as requested by Haiti's unelected government a year ago. Ambassador Antonio Rodrigue commended the vote while calling on nations to be more proactive in combating arms trafficking.

North Korea has been sending IT workers to get remote US jobs, according to the FBI and DOJ. "Beyond Utopia" attracted interest at Sundance from streamers like Amazon's Prime Video and Netflix. Interest peaked four years ago at the Sundance Film Festival, fueled by Amazon and Netflix, which paid a record $10 million for the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doc "Knock Down the House." In the crime realm, WME advised, Netflix was seeking films based on big, well-known cases and scams like "Dahmer" and "Tinder Swindler." Filmmakers point to streamers' self-censorship and 'cold feet' over sensitive topicsSome filmmakers said there are still champions at the streamers for documentaries that push the envelope. "Beyond Utopia" is among a number of recent films that have been snubbed by the big streamers, despite winning awards and buzz.

Then came the Hamas attack against Israel, which has made Netanyahu’s late October trip uncertain and put Beijing's Middle East approach to the test. Yet in Belgium, doctors in Antwerp are “sounding the alarm” about the spread of bedbugs from Paris, according to The Brussels Times. Colleen Oakley, a bestselling novelist in Atlanta, told CNN Travel she would “absolutely not travel” to Paris right now based on her “awful” experience with the creepy crawlies in 2006. Closed credit account: When you default on a credit card, your card issuer almost always closes your account. The good news is that your credit is pliable, so you'll bounce back from a credit card default eventually, as long as you don't fall into default again. Credit card default frequently asked questionsCan I apply for a credit card I defaulted on? If you default on a credit card, that credit card issuer may bar you from any other lines of credit, even if you've rebuilt your credit.

Crude oil storage tanks are seen from above at the Cushing oil hub, appearing to run out of space to contain a historic supply glut that has hammered prices, in Cushing, Oklahoma, March 24, 2016. Prices pared gains after U.S. government data showed U.S. crude inventories (USOILC=ECI) rose by 10.2 million barrels in the last week to 424.2 million barrels, much higher than analyst expectations for a 500,000-barrel rise. U.S. crude output also hit a record 13.2 million barrels per day in the week, the data showed. Meanwhile, the IEA lowered its oil demand growth forecast for 2024, suggesting harsher global economic conditions and progress on energy efficiency will weigh on consumption. However, it raised its 2023 demand forecast to 2.3 million bpd from a forecast of 2.2 million.

Editor’s note: Oona Hanson is a parent coach in private practice and a family mentor at Equip, an eating disorder treatment program. In my work supporting parents and guardians whose children have eating disorders, the process of navigating school nutrition units can be particularly fraught. Most teachers don’t realize that delivering a nutrition lesson can be “leading an expedition into a minefield,” according to Zoë Bisbing, an eating disorder therapist in New York City. Nutrition curriculum has an effect on students, but families play a major role in helping children learn about food. Following typical “healthy eating” guidance to try to lose weight can mean “missing much-needed nutrition at a time when teens have a high need for calories and nutrients for growth and development.”Triggering an eating disorder isn’t the only unintended impact of nutrition lessons.
