In the 1960s, many public pools were filled with concrete or destroyed to avoid allowing Black Americans to swim in them. In fact, park managers opted to shut down the Historic Audubon Park Natatorium in New Orleans, the largest public pool in the South, rather than see it integrated. Black children ages 10-14 years drown in swimming pools at a rate that is almost 8 times higher than White children. Third places are incredibly important for public health and wellbeing however because they give people a place to socialize and build community. We also need better national data about our public pool system that goes beyond project- or funding-specific tracking.

CNN —Rare footage captured by a camera strapped to the back of an endangered shark shows the jarring moment it was struck by a boat — prompting the animal to dash into deep waters and rest for hours. Labor unions, maritime shipping interests and other supply chain businesses have formed a new trade group to push for more domestic infrastructure investment to safeguard the supply chain. "We are bringing the links of the supply chain together," said Josh Wood, CEO of the Supply Chain Council. "We will be championing legislation to strengthen supply chain resiliency and jobs." Wood said that before Covid, supply chain segments were most often viewed independently, and the need to focus on interconnectedness of freight segments has continued to increased with the supply chain experiencing major headwinds. One of the contentious aspects of a strong supply chain is the introduction of automation.

India's finance ministry on Tuesday lowered the country's fiscal deficit target to 4.9% for the financial year ending March 2025, a revision from 5.1% during the pre-election interim budget published back in February. That target will then fall to 4.5% or lower for the financial year ending March 2026, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said during the announcements. "This is imperative for attracting foreign investment and sustaining growth," he said, adding that "unprecedented financial support" from the central bank will make the fiscal deficit target possible. "We will endeavor to maintain strong fiscal support for infrastructure over the next five years, in conjunction with imperatives of other priorities and fiscal consolidation."
