After a siding with the bulls in the run-up to Netflix 's latest earnings report, CNBC's Jim Cramer explained why the quarter made him more optimistic about the company's future, saying he was impressed by management's outlook and commentary about content. Netflix beat Wall Street's expectations for earnings, revenue and paid membership growth when it posted its report Thursday evening. The streaming giant's shares popped 11% Friday morning and maintained those gains through close. Cramer was encouraged by management's guidance for the current quarter and 2025, as the company expects to keep up double-digit revenue growth some investors feared would be hard to maintain. He also liked Sarandos' positive read on how AI will impact business.

The moment was carefully coordinated between aides to the president and vice president. For Harris, the complicated politics of the Middle East are unlikely to be made much easier by Sinwar’s demise. And as she headed to Michigan a day later for a three-stop swing, the fraught politics were likely to continue dogging her. The Israel war has proven a complicating factor as the vice president looks for votes among the state’s large Arab- and Muslim-American population in the Detroit metro area. Earlier this month, Harris met with Arab-American leaders in Michigan, where participants encouraged her to distance herself from Biden’s approach to the conflict.

New York CNN —These past few years, it seems like food companies have been playing some serious mind games with us. As food companies have seen their costs rise substantially over the past few years, many have used two sneaky strategies, dubbed shrinkflation and skimpflation, to avoid having to raise the prices of their goods. Yet when companies simply pass along price increases to consumers, there’s also no shortage of backlash — just ask McDonald’s. So the days of shrinkflation, at least when it comes to food, could be numbered. “I would expect (food companies) to shift their strategy and find a different mind game to play that maybe people are not quite looking out for yet,” Hydock said.

Dallas AP —Texas has sued a Dallas doctor over accusations of providing gender-affirming care to youths, marking one of the first times a state has sought to enforce recent bans driven by Republicans. The Texas law prevents transgender people under 18 from accessing hormone therapies, puberty blockers and transition surgeries, though surgical procedures are rarely performed on children. Children’s Health said in a statement that it “follows and adheres to all state health care laws.”At least 26 states have adopted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors, and most of those states face lawsuits. The lawsuit comes just weeks before an election in which Republicans have used support of gender-affirming health care as a way to attack their opponents. CNN —On Friday, Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield finally appeared on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s latest episode of “Chicken Shop Date,” her popular long-running YouTube interview show that takes place, date-style, over a meal at a local chicken shop in London. “I think that we… There’s something going on,” Dimoldenberg told Garfield in the clip. “I actually believe that, maybe, we could’ve” gone on a real date, off camera. The obvious current of electricity between Garfield and Dimoldenberg has had the internet hungry for more after footage of several flirtatious encounters between the two went viral online. By the end of Friday’s episode, Garfield said that they should consider this interview “date” to be just “a practice round.”“I feel we should do it again actually,” Garfield said.

Meta is ramping up its efforts to fight sextortion on Instagram with the launch of new features that are designed to help prevent young users from getting blackmailed into sharing nude photos. Starting Thursday, Instagram will automatically block follow requests sent to teenage users from accounts that display certain “scammy behaviors,” according to Meta. At a Senate online child safety hearing in January, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologized to parents who said Instagram contributed to their children’s suicides or exploitation. Last month, Meta announced it will begin automatically placing all users under 18 into “teen accounts” with stricter privacy settings. “If they really want to promote meaningful change and online safety for kids and teens, they can stop opposing federal solutions like the Kids Online Safety Act,” Hinkle said.
