Vice President Kamala Harris will set out this week on a swing-state campaign blitz, giving her a far heavier travel schedule than her opponent, former President Donald Trump. Harris’ travel this week will take her to seven states in less than a fourth of the time. Reached for comment, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung pointed to the overall difference in the number of Trump and Harris campaign trips. Harris' campaign swing is also consistent with how candidates typically pick up the pace as the election draws closer, said Aleigha Cavalier, a Democratic strategist at the strategy and marketing agency Precision Strategies. But she said Harris' travel pace compared to Trump's and Biden's is "a real advantage."

Those who are moving are typically younger, lower-income families looking for cheaper housing. Hidden costs of moving are piling on top of higher overt costs like mortgages, the analysts note. With fewer people moving, furniture retail and other moving-related sectors are taking a hit, with spending on home furnishings down 10% year-over-year. Those who are moving have "relatively lower spending power due to being younger and/or on lower incomes," the analysts said. AdvertisementThe analysts said, though, that if would-be movers see any easing of "hidden costs," furniture and appliance spending could bounce back.

Progressive groups have trained their criticisms on Mr. Shapiro and Mr. Kelly, who they accuse of being too conservative on key issues. The debate grew heated during a discussion about whether using the phrase “Genocide Josh” to describe Mr. Shapiro, who is an observant Jew, was antisemitic. One of his advisers called the Harris campaign to object to Mr. Shapiro, a development that was first reported by Politico. Manuel Bonder, a spokesman for Mr. Shapiro, declined to comment on the vice-presidential selection process.
