Police in Michigan are investigating after a car hit and killed a toddler who appeared to have left her home after being put to bed on Friday. According to a statement from the Michigan State Police, a 2-year-old girl “got out of her bed and walked out of the house” while her parents were working around the family’s home in Allen Township, a small community about an hour southeast of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Police were called at 8:20 p.m. about a “car versus pedestrian crash” and found the young child in the road. An autopsy will be performed on the child, Jackson Post Troopers said in the release, and the investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about the incident, they’re asked to contact Michigan State Police Jackson Post at 517-780-4580.

CNN —Some Delta Air Lines passengers are recovering after a pressurization issue on a flight from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Portland, Oregon, caused bloody noses and other issues, according to airline and passenger statements. “We sincerely apologize to our customers for their experience on flight 1203 on Sept. 15,” said a statement from a Delta spokesperson. Delta technicians fixed the pressurization issue on the aircraft, the airline said, and the plane was returned to service the following day. Caryn Allen told CNN affiliate KSL that said it didn’t take very long for passengers to notice something was wrong on the flight. No serious injuries were reported, but medical personnel identified 10 individuals in need of evaluation or treatment following the flight.

FanDuel parent Flutter Entertainment will spend $2.6 billion, or 2.3 billion euros, to acquire Italian gambling company Snaitech from Playtech , adding to a string of deals that aim to boost international growth. Italy is a particularly attractive market for Flutter, as it had about 21 billion euros in gross gaming revenue in 2023. It also acquired Italian lottery and gaming operator Sisal in 2022, and just reported record online market share in Italy in the second quarter. Flutter said Snai had almost 10% market share in Italy last year and nearly 300,000 monthly active users. The new business will be renamed Flutter Brazil, and the deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.

Tito Jackson, an original member of the hit-making pop group the Jackson 5, has died, his family confirmed Monday. NBC Los Angeles spoke to a family member who confirmed the death. Jackson was a founding member of the group of five brothers, along with Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael, who shot to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s with a string of hits. According to CME FedWatch, which estimates interest rate changes based on market predictions, the size of the rate cut is a coin toss. As of Friday afternoon, there's a 51% chance the Federal Reserve will cut rates by 25 basis points and a 49% chance it'll be an extra-large 50-basis-point cut. That's because a larger rate cut makes borrowing cheaper, which tends to drive up spending and fuel price increases. Rate cuts will also eventually make it cheaper for small businesses to take out loans. A rate cut could cause a rush of buyers to enter the market in the short term, driving up prices and competition.

Fed officials and investors have long anticipated that borrowing costs would come down in 2024 — at some point — according to their economic forecasts. But nine months in, rate cuts still haven’t happened, drenching Wall Street’s parade and leaving US consumers squeezed by elevated interest rates. Here’s why the Fed didn’t cut soonerIt’s simple: The Fed didn’t cut interest rates sooner because it could have reignited inflation or left it stuck above the central bank’s target.
