CNN —At Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, Gillian Anderson’s ivory, strapless, floor-grazing gown made not one but two statements. While upon first inspection, the chic wool and silk cady Gabriela Hearst creation epitomizes old Hollywood glamour, a closer look reveals a more subversive twist: The addition of tens of embroidered vulvas sewn onto the skirt. Speaking to Deadline on the Golden Globes red carpet, the “Sex Education” star explained that she chose it “for so many reasons,” and added, “It’s brand appropriate.”The star said she chose the subversive ivory creation for "so many reasons." According to the actor, each motif took craftspeople 3.5 hours to embroider, totaling around 150 hours. “It’s so comfortable,” she told Extra TV outside the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, where the ceremony was held.

Mark Cuban is no fan of jargon — and the billionaire is far from alone. But using jargon words when you could opt for something simple and clear instead, typically has the opposite effect, according to Cuban. "Always use the simpler word," Cuban told Wired in an October video Q&A. "There's no reason to ever use the word 'cohort' when you could use the word 'group,'" he said. You sound stupid when you use the word 'cohort,' because you're trying to sound smart."

Page, hampered for more than a decade by an unusual ailment in his vocal cords, described his vision of a digital utopia in a whisper. If that happens, Mr. Musk said, we’re doomed. Finally he called Mr. Musk a “specieist,” a person who favors humans over the digital life-forms of the future. That debate has pitted some of the world’s richest men against one another: Mr. Musk, Mr. Page, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, the tech investor Peter Thiel, Satya Nadella of Microsoft and Sam Altman of OpenAI.

Lighter skinned Black women were often deemed “redbones,” a term that for some undermined their Black heritage by implying that the women were mixed non-Black ancestry. A 2023 survey by nonprofit Catalyst found women with darker skin tones were more likely to experience workplace racism than women with lighter skin. “I also get to be critical of Beyoncé,” Thomas said.
