At least five game show contestants were "shamelessly exploited" and subjected to "unreasonable, unsafe" working conditions on Amazon Prime's "Beast Games,” a California civil action said this week. "Beast Games" has been billed as a reality competition program with $5 million in prize money, according to Amazon which acquired streaming rights to the show. CNN —Harvey Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to one count of a criminal sex act in the first degree after he was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month. The indictment was unsealed after it was initially announced during a court hearing last Thursday. An attorney for the woman whose grand jury testimony served as the basis of the new indictment said she intends to testify at trial. Prosecutors in New York began presenting the case to the grand jury in August. His conviction was overturned by the New York Court of Appeals in April, citing violation of Weinstein’s constitutional rights at trial.

Sean "Diddy" Combs has been indicted on criminal charges for what U.S. prosecutors called the music mogul's years-long orchestration of a sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Combs, a rapper and producer who was a major figure in hip-hop in the 1990s and 2000s, faces three criminal charges including: racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to the 14-page indictment, Combs turned his business empire into a criminal enterprise in which he and associates engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor and other crimes. Kelly was sentenced to a combined 31 years in prison after being convicted in New York in 2021 and Chicago in 2022 on charges including sex trafficking, racketeering and child sex crimes.

CNN —A critical witness in the original trial of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has announced she will testify in his upcoming retrial on criminal charges. After Weinstein’s conviction was overturned earlier this year, Mimi Haley, a former production assistant on The Weinstein Company’s “Project Runway,” said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through it all again. Haley alleged that Weinstein had pinned her down and forced her into a sex act in 2006 at his Manhattan apartment. Last week, he was indicted in Manhattan in connection to new sexual assault allegations, according to prosecutors. If he is cleared to attend the hearing, Weinstein is expected to be arraigned on the new indictment.

CNN —Following a recent on-stage altercation between Jane’s Addiction band members Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro, the rock band has announced the cancellation of their remaining tour dates. On Monday, the band announced in a statement posted to their Instagram page that they’ve “made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group,” therefore canceling the remaining dates of their tour. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the statement read. Farrell appeared to yell at Navarro, then approach him and hit him before other band members and crew intervened. Jane’s Addiction were set to resume their tour in Toronto on Wednesday after they previously canceled Sunday’s concert in Connecticut due to the scuffle.

The agency was commissioned within the Treasury Department, and the Secret Service was entirely focused on counterfeit money, a major problem of the day. Threatening presidents was not made a crime until 1917, the same year Congress approved Secret Service protection for the immediate family of a president.
