Samsung is the leading manufacturer of memory chips, which are utilized in devices like laptops and servers. Analysts polled by LSEG expected an operating profit of 11.456 trillion Korean won ($7.7 billion) for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Samsung's revenue for the quarter was expected to hit 81.96 trillion won ($61 billion), according to LSEG estimates. DRAM refers to dynamic random access memory chips that are often used in laptops, workstations and PCs.

CNN —The Supreme Court on Tuesday signaled a willingness to uphold a Biden administration regulation on “ghost guns,” mail-order kits that allow people to build untraceable weapons at home and that are turning up at crime scenes with greater frequency. The difference here, she said, is that the ghost guns are marketed to be built into guns and serve no other conceivable purpose. President Joe Biden’s administration told the court in briefing that police departments have faced an “explosion of crimes involving ghost guns” in recent years. In 2017, police submitted about 1,600 ghost guns recovered at crime scenes for tracing. After that decision, a lower court stepped in to block the regulations as applied to two manufacturers.

The boom in corporate investment into artificial intelligence infrastructure still has some way to go as large language models are continuing to evolve, according to the CEO of Foxconn , a key supplier to Apple . This type of AI is referred to in the industry as "AGI," or Artificial General Intelligence. Liu said that progress toward increasingly intelligent AI can only be a good thing for the AI server industry, which has been a key boon to Foxconn's growth this year. "I think for the AI server industry, I think we still have some time to grow," Liu added. "With the AGI capability growing, the age [of] AI devices will be another industry we should watch carefully."

A couple of analyst downgrades are making the rounds Monday on megacap stocks that rarely see ratings cuts: Apple and Amazon. At Jefferies, analysts downgraded Apple to a hold but increased the price target to $213 apiece from $205. It also presents a problem for investors who see the downgrades as a reason to sell some shares. A U.S. judge issued a permanent injunction on Monday that will force Google to offer alternatives to its Google Play store for downloading apps on Android phones. Google will also be restricted from paying fees or sharing revenue with companies in exchange for them choosing not to compete with Google's app store.
