Anna Sorokin was released from ICE custody Friday and went out for the first time Wednesday to see her parole officer. Although she is under house arrest and banned from social media, Sorokin says 'wait and see' what's next for her. Sorokin's exploits prompted a Netflix series, "Inventing Anna," released in February 2022. She was taken to the FBI's lower Manhattan headquarters to complete paperwork before arriving at a residential building in the East Village, the New York Post reports. Sorokin gained infamy thanks to a 2018 New York Magazine piece detailing her crimes, which was followed by a 2022 Netflix series titled "Inventing Anna."
A South Carolina man is in custody after allegedly fatally shooting three of his family members, including an Atlantic Beach councilman, according to the Horry County Police Department. The victim was identified by the Horry County Coroner's Office as 52-year-old Natasha Stevens, police said. Town of Atlantic BeachJames Dewitt II is listed as a councilman for the town of Atlantic Beach on their website. Also known as the "Black Pearl," Atlantic Beach is a historically Black community located just north of Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police Department and Richland County Sheriff's Department are continuing to investigate the three homicides.
A jail warden and his twin brother have been charged with shooting two migrants, one fatally. The men were arrested Wednesday in Texas, The New York Times reported. Citing court documents, The New York Times reported that two brothers, Michael and Mark Sheppard, were arrested Wednesday. Michael Sheppard was, until this week, a warden at the West Texas Detention Center in Sierra Blanca, Texas, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The detention center is a privately run, federal facility for detained immigrants.

Cameron County has charged a woman with trespassing SpaceX's facility in Texas, Sheriff Garza said. The 20-year-old said she was a SpaceX worker and wanted to speak to Elon Musk, per a press release. Parker had stated that she worked at SpaceX and wanted to speak to Musk, the press release said. SpaceX's facility in south Texas, near Boca Chica village, is where the company plans to launch its Starship rocket from. Police issued an arrest warrant in May 2021 for a YouTuber who got into the SpaceX facility and filmed himself walking around the launch site, near the Starship rocket.

But the girls also tell their stories alongside the images. Photographer Richard Ross Richard RossOne photo shows a girl in a tan jumpsuit, hand on her head, sitting alone in a drab, cavernous room. Many of the stories are bleak, reflecting adults who endangered the girls or, at the very least, failed repeatedly to protect them. Ross seems to be saying the shame isn’t the girls’ – it’s ours as a society for jailing children.
