The authorities believe the plan will help in faster recognition of dubious transactions involving shell companies and money laundering. LAS VEGAS — If you received a tax penalty notice from the IRS, it's possible to get the fees waived in certain situations, tax experts say. "It's like a get out of jail free card," said Rosemary Sereti, managing director of Deloitte Tax and a former IRS senior executive. "Very frequently, these two penalties run together," said Debra Estrem, managing director of private wealth controversy at Deloitte Tax, who also worked at the IRS Office of the Chief Counsel. Another fee, the accuracy-related penalty, is typically assessed at 20% of the underpayment amount for cases of "negligence or disregard," according to the IRS. There's also a high fee for civil fraud — "a whopping 75% penalty" — but the IRS has the "burden of proof" for those cases, she said.

That climbs to 60% of Gen Z in China who started investing because of FOMO. Over 80% of Gen Zers in the US and UK began investing before the age of 21 as well as 79% of Canadians and 63% of Chinese Gen Z investors. Only 7% of Gen Z in China started investing before they were 18 years old.

The high cost of living is the "top societal concern" of Gen Zers and millennials, a Deloitte survey found. Financial concerns have pushed 46% of Gen Zs and 37% of millennials to find a second job. The 2023 survey of more than 22,000 Gen Zers and millennials around the world found the high cost of living is the "top societal concern" of both generations, with 51% of Gen Zers and 52% millennials reporting they live paycheck to paycheck. Also, 46% of Gen Zs and 37% of millennials have taken on either a part- or full-time paying job in addition to their primary position, according to the survey. A March survey of 1,009 adults ages 24 to 35 by TIAA Institute found that 51% of Gen Zers and millennials don't expect to do as well financially as their parents.

May 21 (Reuters) - The absence of women from the slate of potential Morgan Stanley (MS.N) CEO successors underscores the importance of cultivating and keeping diverse talent, corporate governance experts say. Morgan Stanley co-presidents Ted Pick and Andy Saperstein, and head of investment management Dan Simkowitz, are the front-runners to succeed James Gorman, who said on Friday he plans to step down as chief executive within a year. The most recent U.S. workforce diversity data comprehensively reported by the Wall Street banks shows women were less represented in leadership positions at Morgan Stanley than at other top U.S. banks as of 2021. A Morgan Stanley representative declined to comment. To be sure, Morgan Stanley has several women in top roles, including Chief Financial Officer Sharon Yeshaya.

Some 46% of Gen Zs currently have either a full- or part-time job in addition to their main one, a new Deloitte survey shows. For their 2023 Gen Z and Millennial Survey, Deloitte gathered responses from 14,483 Gen Zs and 8,373 millennials from 44 countries around the world. Data from Deloitte's survey shows that the cost of living is the biggest concern for millennials and Gen Z right now. "Economic concerns are hampering Gen Zs' and millennials' ability to plan for their future, and causing them to postpone major life decisions," she adds.

That's according to a new survey polling how Irish workers feel about remote work since the pandemic. Meanwhile only 23% of 45-54 year old workers surveyed felt that remote and hybrid work has benefitted their careers. Some 57% of all workers felt remote work in Ireland opened them up to better job opportunities.
