The European Union on Tuesday sent Apple an updated list of objections as part of an ongoing antitrust case over its App Store rules for music streaming providers like Spotify . The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, opened an antitrust investigation into Apple in 2020 after Spotify complained about Apple's license agreements in 2019. The agreements mean that app developers have to pay a 30% commission on all subscription fees that come through the App Store. Spotify, a direct competitor of Apple Music, is "by far" the most popular music streaming service in the U.S. and U.K., among other countries, according to a report by economists at the Analysis Group. IPhone users in the U.S. spend 50% more time on Spotify than Apple music, and in the U.K., the gap is even larger, the report said.

Palantir confirmed on Monday that it's cutting about 2% of its workforce as layoffs continue to hammer the tech industry. The layoffs will impact roughly 75 people based on the company's latest SEC report in December, which showed it had 3,838 employees. A spokesperson told CNBC that the company plans to continue hiring in areas of strategic importance. Palantir is the latest tech company to announce layoffs as the industry reckons with a slowdown following over a decade of unbridled growth. In January, Google revealed plans to lay off more than 12,000 workers, Microsoft announced plans to cut 10,000 employees and Salesforce said it planned to cut 7,000 jobs.

On Feb. 3, a jury in a in a San Francisco federal court found that Musk and Tesla were not liable in a class-action securities fraud trial stemming from tweets Musk made in 2018. Trading in Tesla was halted after his tweets, and its share price remained volatile for weeks. Musk and the SEC did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Attorneys for the shareholders who sued Musk and Tesla over the take-private related tweets still have time to file for an appeal.

The company's Internet, Media and Technology segment's revenue came in at $417 million, a decline of 14% year over year. That segment, which represents the bulk of the company's business, includes various services for agents and consumers. Traffic to Zillow's mobile apps and websites reached 198 million average monthly unique users for the fourth quarter, flat year over year. The company will hold its quarterly call with investors at 5 p.m.
Shares of Roblox popped 24% Wednesday after the company reported fourth-quarter earnings that beat analysts' expectations on top and bottom lines. Roblox reported $770.1 million in bookings in the year-ago quarter. Roblox reported 58.8 million average daily active users, up 19% from a year earlier. A former Google employee said the company has lost its way, writing in a recent blog post that Google is inefficient, plagued by mismanagement and paralyzed by risk. Tesla employees in New York have launched a campaign to organize a union with Workers United Upstate New York, according to a release posted to Twitter Tuesday. The union, Tesla Workers United, would be the first for Tesla if it is formed. "We want Tesla to be the company we know it can be," the workers wrote in the release. In 2018, Musk shared a tweet that said employees would lose stock options if they formed a union. The next step for organizers is to collect signatures from employees saying they want a union.
Shares of Palantir popped more than 19% in extended trading Monday after the company released fourth-quarter earnings that beat analysts' estimates on top and bottom lines. Palantir's revenue for the quarter increased 18% year over year, and its U.S. commercial revenue grew 12%. The company also reported its first ever quarter of positive net income on a GAAP basis, at $31 million. Palantir said it expects to report between $503 million and $507 million in revenue during its first quarter, and between 2.18 billion and 2.23 billion for the full year. In 2018, Palantir generated a total of $38 million from its commercial U.S. business, but as of 2022, it generated $335 million, Karp said.

Twilio on Monday announced plans to cut around 17% of its workforce, or roughly 1,500 jobs based on the 8,992 employees reported as of Sept. 30, 2022, in a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Twilio announced the layoffs in a blog post shared on its website. Lawson said Twilio is forming two business units to help the company spend less and become more efficient.
