Plug Power shares dive on raising going concern doubts
  + stars: | 2023-11-10 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Nov 10 (Reuters) - Shares of Plug Power (PLUG.O) plunged nearly 30% in premarket trading on Friday after the hydrogen fuelcell maker raised going concern doubts. Plug has been facing liquidity issues and has lost more than half of its market capitalization since the start of the year. Its annual financial performance has also been impacted by "unprecedented" supply challenges in the hydrogen network in North America. The Latham, New York-based Plug said cash and equivalents at the end on Sept. 30 stood at $110.8 million. Plug on Thursday also reported a bigger loss for the three months ended Sept. 30 and its revenue of $198.7 million widely missed estimate of $228.2 million, according to LSEG data.

Profitable Klarna poses IPO valuation conundrum
  + stars: | 2023-11-09 | by ( Karen Kwok | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +4 min
Last year, Siemiatkowski raised money at a $6.7 billion equity value, or 85% below its 2021 price tag of $45.6 billion. The implied Klarna valuation, before netting out the company’s cash or debt, would be roughly $14 billion. It’s hard to see Klarna getting close to those multiples, if it’s valued like a bank, since the Swedish company is nowhere near as profitable. For Siemiatkowski, then, the key to gaining an IPO valuation uplift will be to convince investors that Klarna is a lender but not a bank. Klarna raised $800 million at a $6.7 billion valuation in July 2022.

A vial labelled "Novavax V COVID-19 Vaccine" is seen in this illustration taken January 16, 2022. Still, the Maryland-based biotech, which has been banking on cost cuts and commercial sales of its retooled COVID shot to help it stay afloat, reiterated its "going concern warning". The company expects the 2023-2024 U.S. market for COVID shots to be between 30 million and 50 million doses. The company's updated COVID shot, using a more traditional technology than the mRNA-based vaccines of rivals Pfizer (PFE.N) and Moderna (MRNA.O), was authorized in the U.S. in October. Novavax missed out on the COVID vaccine windfall that benefited rivals due to manufacturing issues that delayed its filing for approval when the pandemic was raging.

Arm's big break came in 1993 when Apple released its handheld Newton device on the Arm610 processor. Apple moved to its own Arm-based processors in Mac computers in 2020, breaking away from the Intel x86 processors that had powered them for 15 years. Qualcomm is another major customer making its latest PC processors using Arm, although that relationship is strained. This simplification is also making Arm the choice for non-chip companies like Apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft designing their own custom silicon.

Nov 9 (Reuters) - Trade Desk (TTD.O) forecast fourth-quarter revenue below market expectations on Thursday, in a sign that an uncertain economy could weigh on demand for its digital advertising solutions, sending its shares down about 30% in extended trading. The downbeat forecast is in contrast with ad industry majors such as Meta Platforms (META.O) and Alphabet's (GOOGL.O) Google, which benefited from higher advertising spending. The ad tech firm expects fourth-quarter revenue of at least $580 million, compared with analysts' average estimate of $610.4 million, according to LSEG data. Its revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 stood at $493.3 million, compared with analysts' estimate of $487 million. SiriusXM announced Wednesday that it will launch a revamped app and a newly priced streaming plan as it pushes to attract younger customers. SiriusXM has shed subscribers recently, as it reported a loss of 94,000 satellite radio subscribers in the third quarter. The company is also simplifying its pricing structure, offering its new Streaming All Access Plan for $9.99 a month, a dollar cheaper than its current all-inclusive streaming plan. The cheaper price tag is another bid to attract millennial and younger customers, who may already pay for another streaming service. Select-model 2024 Polestar vehicles will come equipped with SiriusXM 360L technology, which combines satellite and streaming features, the company announced Wednesday.

NEW YORK, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Shares of Affirm Holdings (AFRM.O) surged by nearly 25% on Thursday as strong demand for the buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) lender's services and higher interest rates underpinned quarterly results that beat analysts' estimates. The company's net loss narrowed to $171.8 million, down nearly 32% from a loss of $251.3 million a year earlier. On Thursday, Biden will visit Belvidere to showcase that same auto plant, which has reopened as part of the settlement of a targeted strike by the United Auto Workers union. O'Malley Dillon said the UAW contracts and the auto plant reopening reflect a larger focus on workers by the president. Nikki Haley Is Gaining Ground - The New York Times

She’d need to continue dominating debates; she’d need to not fade or completely lose it when Mr. Trump turns a real attack on her; and more than anything she’d need a substantive critique, even if gently delivered, of Mr. Trump to feel true and land with people. A win in Iowa or New Hampshire for Ms. Haley would reset the entire primary. That response likely derived from the ridiculous period after Jan. 6, when Ms. Haley criticized Mr. Trump harshly, then seemed to dial it back. Progress on potential deals and asset sales: Since Iger opened the door to selling Disney’s declining but profitable traditional TV business and bringing in an investor for ESPN, investors have eagerly awaited what’s next.
