The lack of uniformity allows both firms and employees to present themselves in the best light. This lack of uniformity and the relentless war for talent has firms and employees alike taking advantage of the ambiguity. Rokos has two dozen employees with the title "investment officer" in their LinkedIn profiles. At Coatue, executives sign off on what employees put as their title on LinkedIn, people familiar with the firm's operations said. Members of Tiger Global's front-office team use "investor" as their title on LinkedIn instead of a more specific role.

An uptick in personal care spending could be a sign US consumers are feeling more confident. Better-than-expected retail sales last month point to a coming "treat yourself economy." Those rising numbers point to a trend that Washington Post reporter Heather Long dubbed the "treat yourself economy" in a conversation with Marketplace last week. AdvertisementIt's an expensive trend that may have been less achievable a year or two ago when personal care spending was down nationwide. "Consumers are more willing to spend on the luxury or higher-quality personal care items they avoided during the downturn, such as high-end hair care or designer skincare goods."

Russia faces sweeping sanctions over its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and has been locked out of the US dollar-dominated global financial system, including the widely used SWIFT financial messaging system, making payments and transactions challenging. The Kazan Declaration, issued Wednesday, did not mention global dollar dominance — but it highlighted alternatives. AdvertisementChina — even though it's in a prolonged slowdown — is expected to be the top contributor, accounting for about one-fifth of global growth over the five years. AdvertisementHowever, BRICS economies have a smaller global presence in global financial flows, limiting the impact of de-dollarization, the ING analysts added. Other issues include what countries would use the alternative currencies for and if the West would sanction such alternative systems, he said.

This, despite the fact that younger investors were more optimistic about the economy, their incomes, their living situations, and their investments. Millennial investors have been deeply scarred by two life-changing crises in their young lives. But if you look at hard numbers from the Federal Reserve about what millennial investors actually own, you can see that this stereotype is misguided. When you compare millennials' cash levels with Gen X's cash levels at the same age, though, the risk aversion becomes clear. But when it comes to younger investors, I think the scars run deeper than worries about a coming downturn.

CEO Kelly Ortberg has vowed to turn around the company and laid out a four-point plan. CEO Kelly Ortberg vowed to "return Boeing to its former legacy" and said the company would focus on changing its culture. However, restoring the traditional defined-benefit pension plan — replaced with a 401(k) in 2014 negotiations — has been a key issue for many on the picket lines. Bank of America analysts estimated that restoring this pension plan would cost up to $400 million annually. For Chinese imports, Trump has proposed an even steeper 60% tariff. Many economists have warned that tariffs planned by Trump will hurt global economic growth and drive up inflation in the US, as well as abroad if other countries introduce higher levies on US imports in response. U.K. Finance Minister Rachel Reeves on Thursday confirmed she intends to change the country's fiscal rules in the October budget, a move designed to free up billions of pounds for investment. Writing in The Financial Times on Thursday, Reeves said her "investment rule" will "get debt falling as a proportion of our economy." A Treasury spokesperson declined to comment when asked whether the fiscal rule change would target PSNFL in the U.K.'s measure of debt. The Institute for Fiscal Studies, an influential think tank, said on Sept. 30 that a change in the fiscal rules to target PSNFL would offer as much as £50 billion ($64.8 billion) of additional headroom for the government. Reeves confirmed the change to Britain's fiscal rules during a trip to the International Monetary Fund's annual meetings in Washington.
