CNN —Former Italy and Juventus striker Salvatore “Totò” Schillaci, who was the top scorer at the 1990 World Cup on home soil, has died at the age of 59, his former club announced in a statement on Wednesday. “Salvatore Schillaci, known by everyone as Totò, the striker from the magic nights of Italia ’90 with our national team. Bon voyage, champion.”Schillaci played a starring role for Italy at the 1990 World Cup. In the aftermath of the World Cup, Schillaci would go on to score only once more for his country, a goal in a 2-1 defeat to Norway the following year in a qualifier for the 1992 UEFA European Championships. Schillaci announced his retirement from the game in 1999.

That list includes Vertiv , GE Vernova, Trane and Eaton , which Jim Cramer described as "all very clear winners" of the increased spending on the fast-growing technology. GE Vernova, for example, creates power solutions to help data centers operate in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way. That's because data centers require an immense amount of electricity usage to run properly, and that need is expected to intensify as more facilities are built. "That's almost a pure play on the data center," Cramer said of GE Vernova, describing shares as "one of the great horses of the year." It's a similar story for Trane, Vertiv and Eaton, which all sell products that service data centers.

Read previewThe Federal Reserve is expected to slash interest rates today for the first time since 2020 as the labor market and inflation continue to cool. AdvertisementAssuming a 25-basis-point cut at every FOMC meeting until next July, that would leave an extra 75 basis points the central bank would have to work into its policy adjustments over that time. One is that the consumer could be weaker than they appear, and the labor market is likely to deteriorate further. AdvertisementWhile the Fed hopes to stimulate spending with rate cuts, Tombs is skeptical that they'll the impact the central bank wants. Ben Higgins tried to parlay his Bachelor success into a political career, but the campaign didn't last long. The focus on Bachelor Nation also makes sense given the franchise's viewership is dominated by one of the most crucial swing votes of recent elections: white women. In the past two presidential elections, white women were the most closely split demographic subgroup tracked by major exit polls. In 2016, Donald Trump won over 52% of white women against Hillary Clinton's 43%, exit polls found, while Trump bested Joe Biden in 2020 among white women 55% to 44%. The overlap between the swingiest demographic and the "Bachelor" audience suggests Bachelor Nation has value to those who seek to lead our nation.

Traders see heightened odds of a big initial rate cut from the Federal Reserve this week. As markets price in rising odds of a 50 basis point cut, the Fed may be more likely to deliver, BMO's Ian Lyngen says. He says markets pricing an 80% chance of a big rate cut could sway the Fed. AdvertisementInvestors have been pricing in rising odds of a 50 basis point interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve. And as the market increasingly positions for a jumbo cut, the Fed may be more likely to deliver, according to BMO's head of US rates strategy Ian Lyngen.

CNN —Harvey Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to one count of a criminal sex act in the first degree after he was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month. The indictment was unsealed after it was initially announced during a court hearing last Thursday. An attorney for the woman whose grand jury testimony served as the basis of the new indictment said she intends to testify at trial. Prosecutors in New York began presenting the case to the grand jury in August. His conviction was overturned by the New York Court of Appeals in April, citing violation of Weinstein’s constitutional rights at trial.

Given the vulnerabilities of more offensive missions, it was thought that Kyiv would use the fighter jets in an air-defense role. Before Ukraine received its long-sought-after F-16s from NATO, one of the big questions surrounding the much-hyped transfer of the fighter aircraft was how Kyiv would actually go on to use them in combat. AdvertisementThe Ukrainian F-16s flew their first combat mission in late August as they helped defend the country against a massive Russian aerial bombardment. It's still unclear what caused the crash, but Ukraine dismissed the commander of its air force and said it would investigate the incident.

Since 2022, the Peach State has added over 30,000 clean energy jobs, more than any other state, according to a June study by Climate Power, a strategic communications firm. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated over $175 million toward the EV battery supply chain in Georgia and $135 million over five years toward infrastructure for EV charging stations in Georgia. Investments in EV and battery manufacturing will boost job growth and output in both of these sectors, Benson said. Strong population growth remains a tailwind for Georgia's economic growth and EV industry, Benson said. Between 2021 and 2022, there were 327,795 people who moved into Georgia, according to data from the Census Bureau.
