Exxon combined its once separate chemicals and oil refining businesses and redesigned operations to quickly shift between fuels and chemicals based on which delivers the highest profit. Its fuels outlook differs from oil-consuming nations group International Energy Agency, which expects the use of oil for transportation fuels to decline after 2026. "We have the hypothesis this could be a game changer for Exxon Mobil," McKee said. The company's 564,440 barrel-per-day (bpd) Baytown, Texas refinery, which is co-located with a chemical unit, will allow it to evolve from primarily making fuels to chemicals, Williams said.

WTI crude futures for November , which will soon be the U.S. front-month, was up about 18 cents to $90.30. Investors were awaiting the Fed's interest rate decision at 2:00 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) to assess the outlook for economic growth and fuel demand. The Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates steady, but the focus will be on its projected policy path. Interest rate hikes to tame inflation can slow economic growth and reduce oil demand.

REUTERS/Alexander Manzyuk/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsMOSCOW, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Russia's oil and gas revenues, which account for around a third of total federal budget proceeds, are set to rise to around 733 billion roubles ($7.6 billion) in September, up 14% from the previous month, Reuters calculations showed on Tuesday. The corresponding figure in September 2022 was 688 billion roubles. The budget is expected to return some 278 billion roubles to refineries under the damping mechanism in September, according to Reuters calculations. Proceeds from oil and gas sales are crucial for Russia's commodity-oriented economy and for the financing of what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine. The finance ministry is due to publish its data on budget revenues from oil and gas in early October.

PARIS, Sept 16 (Reuters) - The French government plans to temporarily lift a ban on retailers selling road fuel below cost as part of efforts to stem inflationary pressures on households, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne told newspaper Le Parisien. A renewed surge in pump prices this summer has complicated the government's attempts to curb consumer inflation, with ministers calling on fuel and food industries to cut their margins. TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) has extended a cap on fuel prices past the end of the year while some supermarket chains have held promotions to sell petrol at cost. "With this unprecedented measure, we will obtain tangible results for the French people, without subsidising fuel," she said in an interview published on Saturday. Regarding food prices, Borne told Le Parisien that companies from November would be required to indicate on labels when they modify the size of a product.

For investors looking to play this trend, here are some energy stocks with the greatest long-term upside potential. The sector has added 0.5% this week as oil prices rallied from news of extended voluntary oil supply cuts from Saudi Arabia and Russia until year-end. Oil and natural gas company Diamondback Energy is another name on the list. Natural gas producer EQT , oil and gas giant EOG Resources , as well as petroleum refining and marketing company Valero Energy , are also Wall Street favorites. For investors looking for energy stocks but who do not want to bet on individual names, the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) and the iShares U.S. Energy ETF (IYE) track companies in the sector.

NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Oil prices settled higher on Wednesday, reversing early declines as traders anticipated further draws on U.S. crude oil inventory following extended production cuts in Saudi Arabia and Russia. Brent crude futures settled up 56 cents to $90.60 a barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) futures settled up 85 cents to $87.54. "We have pretty low crude supplies in the U.S., with several weeks of big crude oil draws pushing prices up," said Bob Yawger, director of energy futures also at Mizuho. Global cooperation on green hydrogen manufacturing and supply is expected to be discussed by G-20 leaders at this week's summit in New Delhi. WHAT IS GREEN HYDROGEN? Boshell said just replacing this so-called gray hydrogen — hydrogen produced from fossil fuels — would ensure a long-term market for green hydrogen.
