He will be succeeded by Russell Horwitz, a Goldman veteran who will rejoin the bank after working at Citadel, according to the memo. Goldman Sachs profit dropped 60% in the second quarter, missing estimates, as writedowns in the investment bank's consumer businesses and real estate investments weighed on earnings. Morgan Stanley has decided to take a break, downgrading MSCI China to equal weight while recommending a few consumer and industrial names. The Politburo meeting signaled policy easing, but outstanding issues — of debt, property, jobs and geopolitics — need significant improvement for sustainable inflows, the Morgan Stanley analysts said. July 28 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs (GS.N) executive Julian Salisbury will join investment firm Sixth Street as a partner and co-chief investment officer early next year, his incoming firm said, marking yet another high-profile exit from Goldman. Salisbury will reunite with Goldman alums in his new role, including Sixth Street CEO Alan Waxman. Salisbury became a partner in 2008 and previously served as global co-head of the asset management unit before it was combined with wealth management under Marc Nachmann last year. Goldman's asset management division has promoted 11 partners and hired nine new managing directors focused on investing this year, a company spokeswoman said. Salisbury has "done a great job putting together all these asset management businesses over the last few years," Nachmann said in an interview.

NEW YORK, July 26 (Reuters) - Evercore (EVR.N) has hired veteran Morgan Stanley (MS.N) banker Seth Bergstein as a senior managing director to drive dealmaking in the global services sector, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. Bergstein, who served as head of Morgan Stanley's global services group for about two decades, held the title of vice chairman of investment banking prior to his departure from the bank. In June, Evercore hired veteran technology banker Tammy Kiely and top aerospace & defense banker Michael Tarulli from Goldman. Earlier this month, it recruited Neil Wolitzer, a partner in real estate investment banking at Goldman, according to people familiar with the matter. Morgan Stanley declined to comment.

July 24 (Reuters) - Self-storage operator Public Storage (PSA.N) said on Monday it has entered a deal to buy Simply Self Storage from Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT) for $2.2 billion, as it looks to expand its market presence. Demand for storage space has waned from the heights of the pandemic, as people return to offices, and some analysts expect more consolidation in the sector. Earlier this year, California-based Public Storage made a hostile bid to acquire smaller rival Life Storage. But in April, real estate investment trust Extra Space Storage announced a $12.7 billion deal with Life Storage. Eastdil Secured served as financial adviser to Public Storage, whereas Wells Fargo and Newmark Group acted as lead financial advisers to BREIT.
