Coinbase Global's latest earnings were even weaker than expected, but with an eye toward next week's election and its effect on cryptocurrency markets, many analysts on Wall Street say the exchange is still a buy. But new research suggests that one English woman convicted of witchcraft and condemned to be hanged may have escaped the noose. Alice Molland – who has long held the tragic record of being the last woman in England to be hanged as a “witch” – was sentenced to death in 1685. In June 1685, Avis Molland – by now widowed – emerges in court records as an informant about a potential revolt, at a time when the Duke of Monmouth was attempting a rebellion against the king. Avis Molland died a free woman eight years later. Worland has spent 18 years unearthing victims’ details, and has successfully campaigned to have memorials to executed “witches” in Colchester and Chelmsford.

Commentary Cloud unit Amazon Web Services (AWS) revenue in the third quarter was essentially in line with the consensus forecast. TEL AVIV — Senior White House officials will travel to Israel on Thursday, a U.S. official and a source briefed on the matter told NBC News, as the Biden administration intensifies efforts to end the conflicts in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The officials are expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the possibility of a deal to end the fighting in Lebanon, the source said. Brett McGurk, National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East, and Amos Hochstein, a U.S. special envoy with a focus on Lebanon, are also expected to meet other senior Israeli officials, the source said. McGurk and Hochstein will engage the U.S. ally on a range of issues including Gaza, Lebanon, hostages and Iran, the U.S. official said. London CNN —At Frieze London this year, three large artworks by the artist Nengi Omuku were hung away from the walls so viewers could walk around them. The other presented strips of sanyan, a thick traditional Nigerian fabric that Omuku uses to replace the usual canvas fabric painters often use as their base. “The fact I’m painting on a vintage surface gives soul to my work,” Omuku said over Zoom two days before the fair opens. Omuku's work is painted directly onto strips of sanyan, a thick traditional Nigerian fabric. “I’d never seen a pre-colonial Nigerian textile before, and it looked quite similar to linen.”The artist has exhibited in Paris, New York, Bangkok and London.
