His rally speeches now feature a spoof video mocking trans people and their place in the U.S. military. In doing so, Vance was citing conservative anger about affirmative action and other programs geared toward historically disenfranchised groups. “Why are we debating trans people’s medical care? Clips show Harris affirming her support for federal policies that allow federal prisoners access to medical care including gender-affirming hormone treatments and, potentially, transgender surgery. By the time Trump takes the stage, multiple speakers have primed the audience on the issue.

Two starkly different House candidates, in separate races, personify the intensifying ideological partitioning occurring within the once strongly Democratic constituency of Latino voters, whose numbers are growing. Their highly competitive races, along with a few other California congressional races, have pushed Latino voters to the front lines of the bitter fight for control of the House. “We have centered on Latino voters in our campaign,” said Whitesides, whose wife is of Cuban and Salvadoran heritage. In the same poll, 52% of Latino voters in District 27 said they support Whitesides, compared to 24% for Garcia and 24% completely undecided. In the last presidential election, Latino turnout was very high, and now it “actually is approaching the turnout rate for non-Latinos,” Vargas said.

The regular and gluten-free cornbread mixes are essential for fall baking. I think both cornbread mixes taste very similar. Plus, Trader Joe's simple cornbread mix makes things so easy. Notably, Trader Joe's sells regular cornbread mix all year round, but the gluten-free version is only sold in the fall. I don't follow a gluten-free diet, but I've used this seasonal mix before and think it's just as delicious as the regular one.

Walking pneumonia infections rose nationwide as kids returned to school this fall. Look out for a persistent cough, fever, and fatigueHistorically, walking pneumonia has been most common among school-aged children. People who've recently had the flu are also at increased risk for developing walking pneumonia. In rare cases, walking pneumonia can prompt brain swelling, kidney issues, and difficulty breathing, and people with lung issues, and weakened immune systems may be especially at risk of hospitalization with walking pneumonia. Without any testing, the daughter was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, and prescribed a Z-Pak (azithromycin).

Most clubs don't engage in a rush process, but many do, primarily due to space and funding. AdvertisementSince it's such a stressful process for many students, it's considered a controversial tradition on Yale's campus. The moot court team application included space to discuss my interests and some fun questions about seahorses just for kicks; I appreciated the levity. The secret to a successful salary negotiation isn't what you ask for, but how you do it. Explaining why you deserve a higher salary makes the conversation more collaborative than confrontational. It also shows the hiring manager that you're invested in the role and have done your homework, Broda adds. Ultimately, "hiring managers are on your side in salary negotiations," says Broda. Microsoft Teng remains bullish on Microsoft, despite Wrise making a "partial switch" and reducing its weight in the tech giant while increasing allocations to Nvidia in early August. White sand, clear turquoise sea and lush trees swaying in the breeze. This might sound like a description of the Maldives — but it's actually what I experienced on a recent trip to Italy. The area was founded by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV in the 1960s and now attracts the jet set. Airfare obviously affects travel costs, but I spent $1,500 for a week on the island, including flights from London. We stopped for a lemon granita at the Shardana restaurant, set among the trees overlooking the white sand Baia Sant'Anna beach.

Together, Pennsylvania’s mail ballot rules have generated an entire vocabulary for rejected mail ballots — ballots that are unsigned, undated or misdated, or even “naked,” if they are not clothed in a secrecy envelope. The latest update from Oct. 31 — after the general statewide deadline to request a mail ballot — shows there were 2,193,578 mail ballot applications ever approved. Combined with the deficient returned ballots that we already know about referenced above, that comes to about 8,000 deficient mail ballots that have been returned to date. Although this general election will likely see more mail ballots returned than the previous midterm, the trend so far suggests we might have fewer mail ballots rejected. Moreover, the experience in 2022 suggests there will also be thousands of provisional ballots cast by voters who return deficient mail ballots.

CNN —California voters will decide this election whether to increase the state’s minimum wage to $18 an hour, which would be the highest in the US. Currently, the Golden State’s minimum wage is $16 and is set to rise to $16.50 next year. California has been among the more aggressive states when it comes to hiking the minimum wage. Some 44% of likely California voters said they would vote yes in an October poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California, down from 50% in September. Jerry Brown, gradually raised the minimum wage, giving employers the opportunity to adjust, Condie said.

As a former acting U.S. trade representative who also served on the National Security Council, I’ve engaged in international economic policymaking firsthand. Trump’s main economic idea is to indiscriminately impose tariffs on U.S. trading partners, but it is American importers, exporters and consumers who will pay the price. When Trump last levied tariffs, the EU, Canada, China and other trading partners imposed their own tariffs in retaliation. While President Joe Biden left most of Trump’s tariffs against China in place, he managed to negotiate agreements that led to the easing of many retaliatory measures. As president, Harris would lead an economy that helps everyone, not just those at the very top.
