Altice USA is in talks to sell the financial news streaming service Cheddar News to LA-based private equity firm Regent LP, according to people familiar with the matter. Instead, Altice USA would participate in Cheddar's future performance as part of a so-called "earn out" structure. Since then, Altice USA, the fourth-largest U.S. cable provider, behind Comcast , Charter and Cox, has looked to shed assets as its stock price has plummeted. Altice USA has also considered selling U.S. cable asset Suddenlink but dropped those plans in late 2022. The New York Times reported Altice USA was considering selling Cheddar earlier this year.

Charter shares plunged more than 8% Tuesday after its Chief Financial Officer Jessica Fischer said the company could lose broadband subscribers in the fourth quarter. Charter competitor Comcast 's stock also slipped more than 3% in midday trading. Comcast reported it lost 18,000 broadband subscribers in the third quarter. Even so, Fischer believes Charter will return to subscriber growth, citing a potential rebound in the housing market. Adding "value back into video," referring to Disney and Charter's deal to include Disney+ in some Spectrum plans, will also drive competitiveness for Charter, Fischer added.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Walmart is the latest company to join the growing flock of major advertisers to pull spending from X, Elon Musk’s beleaguered social media company, amid concerns about hate speech — as well as reaching a sizeable audience on the platform. “We aren’t advertising on X as we’ve found some other platforms better reach our customers,” Walmart said in a statement. Musk said advertisers pulling out are engaging in “blackmail” and, using a profanity, essentially told them to go away. Walmart is joining the Walt Disney Co., IBM, NBCUniversal and its parent company Comcast and other companies who have decided to stop spending on X. But X's relations with advertisers don't appear to be improving.

New York CNN —Walmart confirmed on Friday that it is not advertising on X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk and formerly known as Twitter. “We aren’t advertising on X as we’ve found other platforms to better reach our customers,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. A number of prominent brands paused their advertising on X, last month following Musk’s public embrace of an antisemitic conspiracy theory favored by White supremacists. “I don’t want them to advertise,” Musk said at the New York Times DealBook Summit in New York. “If anyone is killing X, it’s Elon Musk – not advertisers,” she said.

Elon Musk seems to be trying to sabotage X by telling major advertisers "go fuck yourself." It gives weight to a theory that Musk may be deliberately trying to sink X, formerly Twitter. Those banks have since been trying to sell the debt — which looks increasingly worthless as Musk drives X into the ground. In the meantime, X and Musk must pay millions of dollars in interest to their financiers. "There is no way back, there is no way to reverse the statement Elon made yesterday," said Ruben Schreurs, chief strategy officer at the marketing consultancy Ebiquity, which works with major advertisers.

An Israeli source confirmed the visit by Musk, a billionaire who also runs Tesla (TSLA.O) and SpaceX. But those assurances have rung hollow as advertisements have continued to be placed on accounts posting hate speech and conspiracy theories. “Elon introduced unique risks,” marketing industry veteran Lou Paskalis, the founder and chief executive of marketing consultancy AJL Advisory, told CNN. “It’s self-destructive for any advertiser to be associated with him,” Sonnenfeld told CNN. His endorsement of the post came as the progressive watchdog Media Matters issued a report that indicated advertisements for major brands appeared next to neo-Nazi hate speech on X. Legal experts have told CNN that the lawsuit is deeply flawed and could open the billionaire up to embarrassing revelations during the discovery process.

He had directed only one movie, “47 Ronin.” It was a commercial and critical dud, and Mr. Rinsch’s tussles with its producers had raised eyebrows, even in an industry where such conflicts are the norm. Amid the feeding frenzy, the project that Mr. Rinsch was pitching — a science-fiction series about artificial humans — became a hot property. After a competitive auction, Mr. Rinsch and his representatives reached an informal eight-figure agreement with Amazon. The project with Mr. Rinsch has turned into a costly fiasco, a microcosm of the era of profligate spending that Hollywood studios now are scrambling to end. New York CNN —At least a dozen major brands have halted ad spending on X, formerly Twitter, since its latest advertiser exodus began last week over concerns about antisemitism and hate speech on Elon Musk’s social media platform. The ongoing exit of advertisers marks a deepening crisis for X, which was already struggling to woo brands back to the platform following Musk’s takeover last year. IBM’s decision also came after Musk had publicly endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory in a post on X earlier in the week. X also said it had made the pro-Nazi accounts identified by Media Matters ineligible for monetization, meaning ads can no longer be run on their pages. (Media Matters has vowed to fight the lawsuit from X and says it stands by its reporting.)

The National Football League is sticking with X, formerly known as Twitter, as Elon Musk's site faces an advertiser revolt over hate speech and antisemitism on the platform. The NFL has partnered with the platform since 2013 as part of an effort to bring fans exclusive content. Last week, Musk agreed with a post on the platform accusing "Jewish communities" of pushing "hatred against whites," CNBC reported earlier this month. Earlier this month, left-leaning media watchdog site MediaMatters.org posted instances of Apple, Bravo and Oracle ads appearing next to antisemitic content on Musk's platform. X on Monday sued Media Matters over the report, coinciding with an investigation launched by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton into the watchdog site for possible fraudulent activity.

A spokesperson for Hilton declined to comment on whether the suspension of 11:11’s ad campaign also meant the end of Hilton’s partnership with X.
