Trump will wade into one of the state's largest sports crowds at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, where Iowa State University will host the University of Iowa. Ireland thrash Romania 82-8 in sweltering Bordeaux

BORDEAUX, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Ireland thrashed Romania 82-8 to get their World Cup campaign started in style in Bordeaux on Saturday, running in 12 tries despite the sweltering heat as the returning Johnny Sexton pulled the strings and centre Bundee Aki ran riot. Romania briefly led against the number one-ranked team in the world, after running back a clearance kick and sending scrum half Gabriel Rupanu clean through to score in the second minute. By the time Sexton walked off to a standing ovation midway through the second half the game was long over as a contest. Aki’s power was also impressive, running perfectly into the gaps and getting his second try six minutes from time to take the Irish tally past the 70-point mark. Ireland next meet Tonga in Nantes next Saturday while Romania return to Bordeaux against South Africa on Sunday, Sept. 17.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — There will be no gold medal for the U.S. at this World Cup. Germany — the last unbeaten team left in the tournament at 7-0 — will play Serbia on Sunday (8:40 a.m. EDT) for the World Cup title. Serbia beat Canada in the first semifinal, getting to its second World Cup final in the last three tournaments; it lost 129-92 to the U.S. in the 2014 championship game. Germany had been 0-6 against the Americans in World Cup or Olympic competition, usually getting blown out in those games. Once again, even bringing the only roster filled with all NBA players wasn’t enough for the U.S. at the World Cup.

6 Podcasts About the Perils (and Joys) of Modern Dating

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of Tinder, the swipe-based dating app whose mainstream success completely redefined the rules of romance. While early episodes of the podcast featured recorded sets from those live shows, it’s since evolved into a more intimate format. Starter episode: “Gearóid Farrelly”Although it lasted less than two years, this soulful, searching series about digital courtship feels as if it was around much longer. That’s in large part because it shape-shifted midway through its run when its host, Andrea Silenzi, went through a breakup. Opting to use her own situation as “a storytelling device,” Silenzi shares her confusion and heartbreak as she chronicles the indignities (and occasional joys) of app-based dating.

Have We Forgotten the True Meaning of Labor Day?
  + stars: | 2023-09-01 | by ( The Conversation | Sept. | At A.M. | ) www.usnews.com   time to read: +8 min
History of Labor DayThe first Labor Day occurred in 1882 in New York City under the direction of that city’s Central Labor Union. The New York Tribune’s reporter covering the event felt the entire day was like one long political barbecue, with “rather dull speeches.”Why was Labor Day invented? Common misconceptionsThe common misconception is that since Labor Day is a national holiday, everyone gets the day off. It became a national holiday in June 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed the Labor Day bill into law. Because not everyone is given time off on Labor Day, union workers as recently as the 1930s were being urged to stage one-day strikes if their employer refused to give them the day off.

Vision 2030 is Saudi Arabia's grand plan to transform its economy and reduce its reliance on oil. The centerpiece of Vision 2030 is Neom, which includes a $1 trillion megacity known as The Line. But time is ticking: Seven years after announcing Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has reached the midway point of its timeline, with just seven years left to the finish line. That said, much of this is being financed by the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's powerful sovereign wealth fund, which manages assets worth about $700 billion. The 24-year-old Uruguayan has been out of favour so far this season, but his late brace against the Magpies showcased the best of his qualities and he will get more chances, Klopp told Sky Sports. "Definitely, a striker scores two goals and you can see he gets a smile on his face, and rightly so. But for the team, it was super-important that they got something like that, you need these kinds of things to grow together," Klopp added. Back-to-back single-goal defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool will leave Newcastle playing catch-up in the league, and manager Eddie Howe said it will be a challenge to pick his players up again. The two we lost were lost by the narrowest of margins, and they were against the best two teams in the Premier League," he added.
