NHS diabetes patients – including Gradwell, who went for weeks without full medication – pay nothing for their medication. The shortage persists even after Ozempic's manufacturer Novo Nordisk (NOVOb.CO) launched Wegovy, a semaglutide drug solely for weight loss, in September. Rightangled told Reuters it is within its rights to continue to prescribe Ozempic for weight loss. Two had stopped offering it for weight loss by October, but Rightangled continued to make it available as of Nov. 17, Reuters found. He said his oncologist said that while he could not prescribe Ozempic, it would be good for his health if he took it for weight loss.

Semaglutide, developed by Novo Nordisk (NOVOb.CO) over decades, is the active ingredient in type 2 diabetes treatments Ozempic and Rybelsus, as well as Wegovy, which is used for weight loss only. Semaglutide in injected form was first approved for use in the U.S. as a treatment for type 2 diabetes in 2017. Booming demand for both drugs has propelled Novo Nordisk to its highest-ever profits. People taking part in clinical trials for drugs based on semaglutide may also continue to take it. The curbs will be in force until August 2024, but may end sooner if supplies improve, a spokesperson for the health ministry said.

Wagner left Facebook parent Meta last year, and her work in trust and safety feels like it was from a prior era. One of her first investments was in a startup called Cove, which was founded by former Meta trust and safety staffers. "One thing I would recommend is transparency at a time where third-party access and understanding to what is going on at scale on social platforms is what is needed." Post is an example of the kinds of companies that trust and safety startups are focused on. Fishman said customers are starting to see trust and safety tools as almost an extension of their cybersecurity budgets.

REUTERS/Loren Elliott Acquire Licensing RightsSAN FRANCISCO, Nov 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday urged Asia-Pacific economies to work together to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) brings change for the better, not to abuse workers or limit potential. Addressing the final session of a two-day summit of the 21-member Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in San Francisco, Biden said he had briefly discussed AI with Chinese President Xi Jinping in talks on the sidelines of APEC on Wednesday. The steps, he said, included committing to ensuring the security of AI systems before releasing them to the public, watermarking AI-generated content to show it has been generated by artificial intelligence and minimizing the risk AI systems posed to society, such as by promoting bias or discrimination. Meanwhile, Washington was expanding grants for AI research in key areas like healthcare and climate change, he said.

Sperm concentration is a measure of sperm per milliliter of semen, while sperm count is the millions of sperm in the entire ejaculate. However, sperm concentration “is an important measure of sperm quality for comparing men across studies because it adjusts for variability in semen volume,” Perry said. Animal studies have shed light on how these pesticides may impact sperm, according to the study. “Sperm is an incredibly sensitive endpoint when it comes to overall health for men,” Perry said. In their 2023 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce, researchers found 210 different pesticides on the 12 foods.

The tool, Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, will expire at the end of December unless the White House and Congress can cut a deal and resolve an unusually vexing debate that has yielded unlikely alliances at the intersection of privacy and national security. Without the program, administration officials warn, the government won't be able to collect crucial intelligence overseas. National security officials have said that 59% of articles in the president’s daily brief contain Section 702 information. The White House has already dismissed as unworkable the one known legislative proposal that’s been advanced. Despite the clear challenges in reaching a compromise, the last-minute scramble between the White House and Congress has come to be expected each time the government’s surveillance powers are set to be renewed.

A US Navy warship shot down a drone that was heading in its direction, US officials said Wednesday. The drone downed by USS Thomas Hudner, which was operating in the Red Sea, came from Yemen. Houston, Dallas, Miami, and Nashville are poised to become economic powerhouses in the US. The future of the energy, healthcare, and finance industries could be in these cities. That's because economic power is flowing to the middle of the country — and places like Houston, Dallas, Nashville, and Miami are becoming hotspots. Just like New York City has Wall Street and San Francisco has Silicon Valley, Houston has its energy economy and Miami has its proximity to Latin America and growing financial industry. RM Sotheby’s, the automobile seller in which Sotheby’s bought a controlling stake in 2022, offered the 1962 Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO by Scaglietti with an unpublished estimate of $60 million. Two bidders drove the price to $47 million before auction-house fees. Sotheby’s promoted the car as a luxury object, offering it in a stand-alone sale during its marquee fall auctions of fine art in New York. Eli Lilly just debuted its powerful new weight-loss drug, Zepbound. Normally, when newer, better drugs are introduced, they match the price of similar drugs already available or come at a premium . Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk have said that about 50 million people have some level of insurance coverage for weight-loss drugs. But some experts were skeptical, because employers and insurers don't typically pay the list price for drugs. In past years, the Grammys have been criticized for failing to adequately reward female artists, and this year’s woman-heavy nominations will likely be welcomed in the industry as a sign of progress. As always, the nominations included some surprises in the top tier, particularly when it came to country artists. (“Fast Car” was not, however, eligible for song of the year, since it had already been nominated for that award in the ’80s.) (Wallen’s hit “Last Night” is up for best country song, though Wallen was not among its four writers.)
