The disruption came at a critical moment for the Lake campaign, locked in a tight race for governor with the Democratic nominee, Katie Hobbs, currently serving as Arizona's secretary of state. "Just two days before Election Day, our campaign headquarters remains shut down," the Lake campaign statement said. The FBI's field office in Phoenix said its agents and local law enforcement responded on Sunday morning to "a report of suspicious letters" at the location of the Phoenix campaign headquarters. Neither the FBI statement, nor the Phoenix police, referred to Lake or her campaign by name. The incident came nearly two weeks after a burglary of Hobbs' campaign headquarters.

Nov 4 (Reuters) - Several Republican candidates for governor and secretary of state in next week's congressional elections are election deniers in battleground states that play a decisive role in U.S. presidential elections. All back former President Donald Trump's false claims that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election won by Democrat Joe Biden. Voting rights groups and many Democrats worry that if the candidates win their races in these midterm elections, they will be in key positions to influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. In Michigan, Republican secretary of state nominee Karamo has claimed Biden is an illegitimate president and she would not have certified his 2020 win in her state. "I could decertify every machine in the state with the stroke of a pen via the secretary of state," Mastriano declared during a March radio interview.
The contest between Mr. Kelly and Mr. Masters could determine who controls the Senate, and the next governor of Arizona will hold significant power over the 2024 elections there. Several of our participants saw each of the two races as a choice between the lesser of two evils. More than a few participants said their dislike was rooted in a gut feeling about Mr. Masters. For the governor’s race, some participants saw Ms. Lake’s inexperience with government as a liability, while others, tired of career politicians, viewed it as an asset. Ms. Hobbs engendered fewer strong feelings, with one participant calling her “a wet noodle.”Of the 12 participants, one said he might split his vote for Mr. Kelly and Ms. Lake.

Local television stations accidentally airing test election results before the election has happened before during the 2020 elections at local stations in Michigan and Illinois (here), (here). The Associated Press confirmed that they send test data to their media customers with randomly generated results ahead of elections.
In an NBC News poll of registered voters last month, economic concerns beat out every other issue. Recent data from three swing states — Wisconsin, Arizona and Pennsylvania — sheds light on the varying economic pressures that might influence choices at the ballot box. Tony Evers faces Republican challenger Tim Michels, the job market is hot. Gas prices in the state have recently come down to an average of $3.60 a gallon, compared to $3.76 nationally, after this summer’s nationwide surge. Wisconsin’s metro areas aren’t big enough to be broken out in federal data, but food prices in the Midwest have risen by 12.7% over the last year, compared to 11.2% nationally.

New York CNN Business —It is as if Kari Lake never worked at Fox 10. Recent on-air coverage of her campaign that CNN reviewed makes no mention that Lake was a longtime anchor at the station. It was only eons ago, when Lake first declared her candidacy, that Fox 10 mentioned she had worked at the station. But Lake’s 22-year history at Fox 10 is a crucial part of her story. A spokesperson for Katie Hobbs, Lake’s opponent in the race, told me that their camp has certainly observed this conspicuous lack of disclosure.
Arizona Republican nominee for governor Kari Lake made light of the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband in remarks at a campaign event Monday, drawing laughter from the audience. The remark comes after House Speaker's Nancy Pelosi's 82-year-old husband, Paul Pelosi, was brutally attacked Friday at the couple's San Francisco home. You can’t talk about vaccines, you can’t talk about elections, you can’t talk about Paul Pelosi, and now you can’t talk about Nancy Pelosi." Paul Pelosi was still in the intensive care unit, surrounded by family members, a source with knowledge of the situation told NBC News on Monday. Lake is the not the first high-profile Republican to draw attention for remarks about the attack on Paul Pelosi.

'Our community is demonized'Election denialism is still “overwhelmingly concentrated among non-Hispanic whites," said Francisco Pedraza, an associate director at Arizona State University's Center for Latinas/os and American Politics Research. In 2020, Latino voters helped Joe Biden win the state.

Election deniers are running in key battleground states during the 2022 midterms. Kari Lake and Mark Finchem are going for two positions that could influence election procedures in Arizona. Experts told the NYT that election deniers could refuse election results in the 2024 presidential race. As secretary of state, Finchem could revise election procedures that would alter rules that deal with everything from voter registration to election certification procedures. In one of these introduced laws, proposed in Arizona in January, state legislators would have the power to change the election results.
Far-right figures gained thousands of new Twitter followers in the 24 hours before Musk took over. Among these new followers, thousands were new to the platform, researchers told The New York Times. Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert gained almost 18,700 new followers in the 24 hours leading up to Musk's takeover, with nearly half from new accounts. Memetica CEO Ben Decker told Insider the findings were alarming because those who gained followers "are really well-known purveyors of disinformation, harassment, and hate." "The more followers and wider reach these accounts have, the more distribution these ideas have," Decker told The New York Times.
If election deniers in those races win, their ability to affect future elections could be made more robust by having cooperative election deniers in their state houses to help push legislation remaking certain election laws in those states. The group’s analysis found that election deniers were most prevalent in Arizona state legislative races, where they made up 87% of all Republican nominees in those races. In both Pennsylvania and Michigan, 62% of all Republican state legislative nominees in each state were election deniers, the group found. In Minnesota, 42% of all Republican nominees in state legislative races were election deniers, while in Nevada, 31% were. That included several incumbents and candidates in Minnesota who'd who had questioned or challenged the results of the 2020 election.

Alex Goldenberg, NCRI's lead intelligence analyst, told The Washington Post that "online trolls regularly test the limits of moderation." On the same day, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted that Musk's purchase of Twitter was "the most important development for Free Speech in decades."
On Wednesday night, NBC News counted at least nine people watching the ballot drop box in Mesa, a small part of what has become a growing effort by some conservatives to monitor ballot drop boxes in hope of catching election fraud. Some people have stood watch at the drop box while wearing military-style fatigues and masks over their faces, prompting complaints to the Arizona secretary of state. No such drop box fraud has ever been found in significant numbers. On that platform, the former president’s account has shared posts by users advocating for drop box surveillance, including the Mesa drop box. “As for tailgate parties in every drop box: why not?” Keshel said, reiterating that drop box watchers should not participate in any illegal behavior.

The case is now before the Nevada Supreme Court, which earlier this month blocked officials from livestreaming the count ahead of election day. A Fox affiliate station in Phoenix mistakenly shared test election results during a live newscast. "This graphic was never meant to go on air — the numbers were only part of a test," Fox 10 said. It said the results were generated and distributed by the Associated Press, which has historically provided election results to clients. In defense of Fox 10's mistake, Tennessee's WTVC NewsChannel 9 said the test election results are "not some nefarious, election-rigging plot. "Making you aware that before every election night, the @AP tests its election results system — which we use — to make sure it's running properly.

Barrett brushed off the endorsement as grandstanding by "establishment war hawks" with a "senseless thirst for more foreign entanglements."
