CNN —Dwyane Wade’s status as a Miami Heat legend was further cemented on Sunday as the franchise unveiled an eight-foot statue of the three-time NBA champion. The 42-year-old played 16 seasons in the NBA and was selected as an All-Star 13 times before retiring in 2019. One comment on an Instagram video of the unveiling said that the statue better resembled Laurence Fishburne as ’Morpheus’ from the movie ‘The Matrix’ than Wade. Fans criticized the likeness of the statue although Wade himself didn't seem too bothered and was relishing the moment. CNN —A Florida woman was found guilty of second-degree murder Friday after authorities said she zipped her boyfriend up in a suitcase and left him for dead back in 2020. Sarah Boone, now 47, told authorities her boyfriend got trapped in a suitcase and died during a game of hide-and-seek, court records show. Boone also testified she thought Torres could get out of the suitcase, the affiliate said. She testified in her own defense for almost five hours, CNN affiliate WESH reported. A federal appeals court ruled Friday that a Mississippi law allowing mail-in ballots to be counted if they are postmarked before Election Day — but received up to five days after Election Day — is pre-empted by federal law. It does, however, pave the way for a possible challenge that could go up to the U.S. Supreme Court, which could have ramifications for states that do allow ballots postmarked before Election Day to be counted. The appeals court ruling says that no such ballots should be counted. "Federal law requires voters to take timely steps to vote by Election Day. And federal law does not permit the State of Mississippi to extend the period for voting by one day, five days, or 100 days," the ruling said.

Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries and an alleged accomplice pleaded not guilty on Friday to sex trafficking and interstate prostitution charges. Jeffries’ romantic partner, Matthew Smith, who was also arrested on Tuesday on sex trafficking charges, wasn’t at the arraignment. Jeffries, Smith and Jacobson have each been hit with a single count of sex trafficking, as well as 15 counts of interstate prostitution tied to 15 alleged victims.
