Russians are accusing Putin of ignoring domestic problems while focusing on the war in Ukraine. Forbes Ukraine estimated last week that Russia has spent around $82 billion in the war so far. It is unclear how much exactly Putin is spending on the war in Ukraine, which continues nine months after the Russian leader launched his large-scale invasion. The war will not get any cheaper for Putin, Forbes Ukraine said, estimating that it will cost at least $10 billion a month going forward. Other reports of mobilized Russian soldiers being deployed with little training and poor equipment have prompted more Russians to publicly voice their criticisms.

He said Ukrainian fighting positions tended to be well-kept, dry and warm, and soldiers had warm clothing.

BOLD PAC spent a record $6 million supporting the candidates in their races. There are currently 38 Latinos in Congress, 28 of them Democrats and 10 Republicans, according to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund. After the elections, that number has increased to at least 45 in the next Congress that starts in January, with 34 Democrats and 11 Republicans, which would make it a record number of Latinos in Congress, according to NALEO. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus was founded as a bipartisan caucus, but as Republicans numbers grew, GOP members broke off and formed the Congressional Hispanic Conference. Talk to Latino voters early and recruit Latinos and Latinas to run and not just in majority Latino districts.
Abortion, gun control and crime were some of the top issues that drove young Latino voters to the polls this year. Out of all young voters, Latinos were the most likely to name crime as the top issue that decided their vote. CIRCLE estimated that 27% of people ages 18 to 29 voted in the midterm election, making it the second-highest youth voter turnout, behind the 2018 midterm election, in almost three decades. The 2022 Midterm Election Voter Poll found inflation was the top issue motivating Latino voters in 11 battleground states. Rayes said young Latino candidates "are engaging the Latino community to come out and vote," pointing out Florida and California as examples.
The killings of four University of Idaho students Sunday elicited shock and sadness on campus, in the college city of Moscow, Idaho, and beyond. Mogen planned to move to Boise after graduating this spring, family friend Jessie Frost told the Idaho Statesman newspaper. Chapin had just turned 20, and was a triplet, his parents, Stacy and Jim Chapin, told NBC affiliate KING of Seattle. “Everything we do, is all of us, together,” Stacy Chapin told the station. “I am lucky to have had her as a sister,” her sister, Jazzmin Kernodle, said in a statement.
The state push is also backed by potentially lucrative returns - depending on the business model, returns on rental housing projects could be between high single digit and high teens. According to consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, the size of the rental housing market in China is expected to increase to 2.7 trillion yuan ($372.25 billion) by 2026, after rising to 1.8 trillion yuan in 2021 from 1.2 trillion yuan in 2017. Warburg Pincus also sees more opportunities in the rental housing because of increasingly attractive asset prices and less competition from cash-strapped local developers. As part of that, regulators have asked trust companies to provide financing to developers for rental housing construction and acquisitions. Across cycles, investment demand may have been affected but not overall housing demand," said Warburg Pincus' Zhang.
New York CNN Business —Coffee futures are crashing. “When the dollar goes up, everything measured in dollars, like international coffee prices, tend to go down,” Mera said. In the year through October, not adjusted for seasonal swings, coffee prices jumped 14.8% in the grocery store, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But the improved conditions won’t necessarily mean a big decline in coffee prices for consumers, Mera noted. That’s because while coffee prices are falling, other costs, like labor and distribution, are still high for producers.

[1/6] Keelie Topping shops in the parish of the Church of St Matthew the Apostle in Burnley, England, Britain November 10, 2022. While millions in Britain face a difficult winter, the Centre for Cities think tank says the nearly 95,000 residents of Burnley are most exposed to the shockwaves ripping through the economy. Consumers in Burnley saw prices rise 11.7% in the year to September, the think tank estimates, compared with 10.1% nationally, and 9.1% in London. Britain's exit from the European Union has so far failed to yield economic dividends for places like Burnley. Adrian Pabst, at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research think tank, said the cost of supporting the poorest households did not have to be big.
Gen Z employees are underrepresented in the federal government, according to a new report. The nonprofit Partnership for Public Service analyzed federal retention trends centering on Gen X and Gen Z. The average turnover rate for Gen Z in the federal government — more than 12% — was also significantly higher than the federal government-wide rate at around 6%. Congress will, however, soon have its first Gen Z member in Maxwell Frost, a 25-year-old Democrat who won Florida'sFinancial stability was a chief concern among Gen Z workers, who on average had more than $18,000 in student debt in 2021. With the COVID-19 pandemic still present, workplace flexibility and easy-to-use digital technologies were also among the priorities of Gen X and Gen Z federal employees, according to the report.

Midterms Bring Republicans to a Fork in the Road

Depending on the outcome of several key races, the Republican Party could soon have control of one or both houses of Congress. Robert Frost and politics don’t really mix, but his famous allegory is apt: Two roads diverge before this potential GOP majority. The one “less travelled by” would be to pass bills that would make things better for the American people. The more tempting and historically more frequented road would be to pursue pointless investigations, messaging bills, threats and government shutdowns. The road we choose could make “all the difference.”Exit polls of voters confirmed that inflation remains a top voter concern.
In Arizona Senate, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly is ahead of Republican Blake Masters by 115,000 votes with 80% in. On Dobbs, the national exit poll showed 27% of voters picking abortion as their No. And remember that our final NBC News poll found Trump as one of the most unpopular political figures we measured, especially compared with President Biden. In each state, those Democratic secretaries of state nominees were running against Republicans who cast doubt on the 2020 election result. Two of those five feature Democrat vs. Democrat contests, thanks to the state’s Top 2 primary, so those will stay in the Democratic column.
COME AUTUMN’S harvest, apples take pride of place in American desserts, and I’m not one to argue that. It arrives a little later in the season and is often overlooked, particularly in baking. But pears have a delicate sweetness that softens the blow of the first frost, offering a fragrance that’s mild but quietly intoxicating. Baked, they lend themselves to spicing, particularly with cardamom and ginger. While I wouldn’t recommend a pear pie—the fruit would disintegrate, steamed under a pie crust—pears are ideal in a tarte Tatin, which cooks far more quickly, particularly when made with puff pastry.
Democrat Maxwell Frost of Florida, 25 years old, is one of the youngest candidates to ever be elected to the House of Representatives. Frost is set to be the first member of Generation Z in Congress after just meeting the minimum age requirement to serve in the House. He, like the oldest members of his generation, was born in 1997.
Several Republican and Democratic Latinos made history in the midterm elections, even as votes were still being tallied Wednesday in many parts of the country. According to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, Latinos ran for top offices in 44 of the nation's 50 states. Antonio Delgado became the first person who identifies as Latino to be elected to the office, according to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials. Matos, a former Providence City Council president, was appointed lieutenant governor in April 2021 when Dan McKee became the state's governor. Follow NBC Latino on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Community organizer Maxwell Frost won his Florida race for Congress on Tuesday, NBC News projected, making him the first member of Generation Z to reach the House of Representatives. Frost, 25, beat Republican Calvin Wimbish, a retired 72-year-old Army Green Beret, to take the Orlando-based 10th Congressional District seat now held by Democrat Val Demings. Frost will stand out among his soon-to-be peers in the halls of Congress where the average age of House members is 58. (Gen Z generally refers to those born in the late 1990s to the early 2010s.) “We made history for Floridians, for Gen Z, and for everyone who believes we deserve a better future.
Progressive activist Maxwell Alejandro Frost, 25, will officially become the first Gen Z member of Congress after winning his race to represent Florida's 10th Congressional District. "Central Florida, my name is Maxwell Alejandro Frost, and I'm going to be the first Generation Z member of the United States Congress!" He quit his previous job in order to run for Congress and drove for Uber to pay rent while on the campaign trail. He's passionate about gun reform, often referring to Gen Z as the "school shooter generation." The 2022 midterms were the first time members of Gen Z could run for Congress, which Pew Research Center defines as people born between 1997 and 2012.
