PARIS (AP) — French power network operator Enedis said Sunday that one of its technicians was killed as it battles to restore electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes in the wake of major storms. The 46-year-old man killed Saturday was working in a rapid-reaction force deployed in the Brittany region of northwest France that was battered Thursday by Storm Ciarán. Packing record-breaking winds and rain, the storm killed 14 people across Europe. French media reported that the technician was electrocuted while working on a power cable. Enedis said Sunday that it was still working to restore power to 112,000 homes in Brittany and another 25,200 in the adjacent Normandy region.

In a study published in the journal Behavioural Processes last month, two US scientists counted 276 different facial expressions when domesticated cats interacted with one another. Both researchers assessed the differences in expression with a coding system designed specifically for cats, called the cat Facial Action Coding System, and looking at the number and types of facial muscle movements. The study added that muscle movements associated with biological processes such as breathing and yawning were not included. “Our hope is to expand our sample size to include cats living in other locations…looking at the facial expressions of cats living in multi-cat homes, feral colonies” and so on, Florkiewicz said. Another goal for the future is to conduct a follow-up study to determine what more of the expressions mean, she added.

(AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns, Travis Kelce caught 12 passes for 179 yards and a score, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17 on Sunday to take command of the AFC West. Joshua Palmer caught five passes for 133 yards and Joshua Kelley ran seven times for 75 yards and a score. The score left Mahomes with 321 yards passing, the fourth time in his career that he had been over 300 yards before halftime. And it left Kelce with nine catches for 143 yards and a score. It only left the Chiefs with a 24-17 lead, though, because the Chargers were getting some big plays of their own.

CNN —In a surprise to absolutely nobody, Taylor Swift was back in Kansas City on Sunday to support Travis Kelce at his football game. Wearing a red Kansas City Chiefs t-shirt and a black cheerleader-inspired miniskirt, Swift appeared on CBS’s broadcast at Arrowhead Stadium watching the team play the Los Angeles Chargers. She was seen embracing Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after Kelce made a big play on the field. Sunday marked the fourth time the singer has attended one of Kelce’s football games in person since she first appeared on the Chiefs’ home turf in September. Despite the G-rated PDA and the four football games Swift has now attended in person to support the two-time Super Bowl champ, they have yet to publicly comment on their relationship status.

Anna Colliton has lived in her apartment in Pelham Parkway in the Bronx for five years, but she suspects the mice have been there far longer. They also seem to have an unusual favorite food: the spare packets of ketchup she keeps alongside takeout menus in a kitchen drawer. Mice are commonly used in medical research because of their physiological and genetic similarities to humans. But their evolutionary changes can also be observed over a relatively short period, making them an ideal subject for research into how wild animals adapt to, say, urbanization. The Drexel researchers are studying the effects of urban environments on the evolution of house mice in New York, Philadelphia and Richmond, Va.: relatively old cities, where time and development may have caused differences to accumulate between the mice in each city and those in surrounding areas.
