"So this will go toward helping our customers to really be able to harness cloud computing, because you need the data centers to be able to actually provide cloud computing for our customers." AWS, along with other cloud players, has been investing heavily in infrastructure, such as data centers and Nvidia chips, in order to train and run AI models. AWS competes with Microsoft and Google in the U.K. and its investment continues the company's focus on expansion in Europe. AWS said this year it plans to invest 8.8 billion euros in existing cloud infrastructure in Germany.

A vaccination campaign against mpox in Congo will begin Oct. 2, authorities said Saturday, with workers focusing on the three most affected provinces first. Most mpox infections in Congo and Burundi, the second most affected country, are in children under age 15. Congo issued an emergency approval of the vaccine, which has already been used in Europe and the United States in adults.

These are not unlike those found in the wing bones of modern birds that flap their wings to fly, Rosenbach said. In contrast, spiral ridges within Arambourgiania’s wing bones resembled the interiors of vulture wing bones, which are thought to resist the forces associated with soaring. “They represent the largest animals with the capacity to fly,” Rosenbach said of the extinct reptiles.

But the mediators failed to broker a cease-fire, or even to get both sides around the table, after Sudan’s military refused to show up. Frustrated American and Arab diplomats said the breakdown exposed the disarray and internal divisions in Sudan’s weakened military, which are a major obstacle to ending Africa’s biggest war. The United States hoped the talks in Villars-sur-Ollon, a picturesque village 80 miles by road from Geneva, could break an eight-month diplomatic deadlock. Since then, war has spread, bringing a widespread humanitarian crisis that this month led to a rare declaration of famine.
