Stocks could continue to gain momentum in the week ahead as traders turn their attention to earnings results after the past week's softer inflation news. The major benchmarks are headed for a positive week Friday after encouraging consumer and wholesale inflation in June cemented the likelihood that the Federal Reserve is closer to the end of its rate-hiking campaign. Some market participants expect this period could mark the trough for earnings, and urge traders to pay more attention to forward guidance. "And that's a great sign for the market and market health." LONDON, July 12 (Reuters) - World number two Aryna Sabalenka roared into the Wimbledon semi-finals with a 6-2 6-4 win over American Madison Keys on Wednesday. Sabalenka served out the set after 38 minutes, looking the favourite to reach her second semi-final at the All England Club having done so on her last appearance in 2021. However, Keys, chasing her first Wimbledon semi-final, came out in the second set with more grit and determination. The 25th seed had three break points in the next game and took the third when Sabalenka sent a forehand wide. It was a really tough match, really great player and super happy I was able to win the second set, (and the) game," Sabalenka said on court.

The Massalit and other non-Arab communities are often targeted by Arab militias, supported by the RSF, the report said. “Many of these abuses committed in the context of the armed conflict in Sudan amount to war crimes,” HRW’s report said. Satellite imagery and fire detection data shows that six other towns and villages in West Darfur, including Molle, Murnei, and Gokor, were also burned down, according to the report. Since then, West Darfur has seen widespread violence and reports of atrocities committed by RSF fighters and their allied militias. “Since the conflict in Sudan broke out in April, some of the worst atrocities have been in West Darfur,” HRW senior crisis and conflict researcher Jean-Baptiste Gallopin said.

The 28-year-old Keys began the match in typically aggressive fashion, firing off powerful returns and groundstrokes to break serve and go 2-0 ahead. The breaker seemed to take the wind out of Andreeva's sails. Keys stormed into an early 2-0 lead in the third set after the Russian double faulted in her opening service game, before finishing off her opponent in a shade over two hours. In her second quarter-final at Wimbledon, Keys will face either second-seeded Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka or another Russian in Ekaterina Alexandrova, the 21st seed. Second seed Djokovic will hope his 101st match at Wimbledon - against seventh-seeded Russian Andrey Rublev in the last eight - will mark a return to vintage form. Rybakina, meanwhile, had an easier route into the quarter-finals after her Brazilian opponent retired with a back injury while trailing the third seed 4-1 in the first set. "It was really unlucky for Beatriz and I hope she gets better," added Rybakina. It was also a day to rejoice for fellow American Eubanks, who got past Tsitsipas 3-6 7-6(4) 3-6 6-4 6-4 to make the quarter-finals on his Wimbledon debut. "I feel like I'm living a dream right now, this is absolutely insane," said Eubanks, who meets Medvedev next.

“The UK’s standing in the world has long been defined by its closeness to America,” a US administration official told CNN. “After Brexit, under Boris (Johnson) and (Liz) Truss, the UK was just so needy. I speak as one of 25 TCM viewers chosen in a national contest to be a guest programmer on TCM for its 25th anniversary in 2019. Each of us was asked to introduce a film that meant something highly personal to us and to dedicate it to someone special in our lives. She sensed in that serendipitous moment that her father was still with her, and it sustained her. I chose the 1958 Oscar-winning musical “Gigi” and dedicated it to my wife. His gift was tickets to a performance of the show.

Melbourne has topped the list seven times so far, but Vienna has come first for the past two years. Instead, the ranking has been dominated by cities in Europe, Australia, and Canada. Last year, when two cities were tied for both third and 10th place, the list consisted of six cities in Europe, three in Canada, and one each in Japan and Australia. In creating the list, the EIU looked at 173 cities across the world. Since the EIU started the ranking in 2009, Melbourne, Australia, has topped the list seven times.

Furby, the ’90s toy phenomenon that divided kids and parents into opposing camps when it first hit stores and quickly became a craze, is making yet another comeback. The latest iteration of the animatronic toy launched on Amazon Thursday and rolls into stores nationwide on July 15 after a nearly 10-year gap. Still, Hasbro said it sold more than 40 million Furby toys globally in the first three years after they launched. In 2016, Hasbro launched Furby Connect, a version of the toy that incorporated Bluetooth for content upgrades via an app and an off button. “There’s a saying in the toy industry that what’s old is new again,” he said.

The S & P 500 is flashing a "rare signal" that suggests the market rally has some legs, Bank of America says. He noted it's only the 25th time that the broader index notched a new 52-week high after a long pause of 300 or more calendar days between 52-week highs. "And what it does suggest is that the S & P should have stronger-than-average returns going out from 10 days to a year, and even two years later." Of the previous 24 signals, the S & P 500 notched a double-digit gain 16 times. For example, while the S & P 500 has notched a new 52-week high, only a small percentage of the index has managed the same milestone, which suggests narrow leadership.

Mr. Trump would surely try to get the case dismissed on that basis. There is no definitive Supreme Court ruling because the issue has never arisen before. Notably, in 1997, the Supreme Court allowed a federal lawsuit against President Bill Clinton to proceed while he was in office. Even more extraordinary complications would arise were Mr. Trump to be convicted and incarcerated and yet elected anyway. One possibility is that he could win a federal court order requiring his release from prison as a result of a constitutional challenge.
