IMOTSKI, Croatia (Reuters) - Local Croatian sculptor Roko Drzislav Rebic is carving a life-sized stone replica of a Mercedes Benz Minika car as a monument to the thousands of workers who left their homeland in search of a better fortune abroad. The monument will be revealed on June 8 in Imotski, a small town situated on the slopes of the Dinara mountain, 30 km (48 miles) from the famed Adriatic coast. Another was in 2018 after Croatia joined the European Union and thousands of young people left the country to work in Western Europe. Rebic told Reuters that the stone was brought from areas near Imotski and once the monument is finished it will weigh 50 tonnes. Topic said that according to his estimates there are up to 8,000 Mercedes cars in Imotski which has the population of 25,000.

DETROIT (AP) — A couple of blocks from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Electrify America is about to open an indoor charging station that lets drivers relax in a lounge while their electric vehicle batteries are being filled up. On Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, Tesla is building a combination drive-in restaurant, movie theater and charging station. Several convenience store chains have set up charging stations outside their businesses and offer food, restrooms and 24-hour service for EV owners. He said he doesn't necessarily think charging stations with more amenities will become a big attraction for most EV owners. Luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari topped Wall Street's top- and bottom-line earnings expectations for the fourth quarter to finish off a record year of profits. The automaker reported a net profit of 1.26 billion euros, or $1.36 billion, for 2023, including 294 million euros, or $317.9 million, during the fourth quarter. Its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, or EBIT, was 1.62 billion euros, or $1.75 billion, for the year, including 372 million euros, or $402.3 million, in the last quarter. Ferrari's revenue last year increased 17% to 5.97 billion euros, or $6.46 billion, including an 11% increase in the fourth quarter from 1.37 billion euros a year earlier in 2022. Such records are expected to be short-lived, as Ferrari is forecasting to top many of those results in 2024.
