With 23% of the vote, Wilders stands a good chance of leading any future governing coalition. In the Netherlands, forming a majority coalition with Wilders' party was considered unthinkable not long ago. "And Wilders took off in the polls.”In December, a member of Wilders' party became president of parliament, marking a breakthrough in political acceptance. There is now a real prospect of his far-right party joining, or even leading, a majority governing coalition. Rather than far-right parties being pulled to the center, the center may veer to the right.

Iowa Republicans were a clear reflection of that on Monday night, delivering the former president an emphatic victory. As clear-cut as his win was, though, Iowa has not historically played the role of kingmaker in the Republican nominating process. He chose to appear at court hearings as a defendant in his legal cases in New York and Washington rather than speak to Iowa voters in the final days before the voting. With its more moderate, educated electorate, New Hampshire presents Trump’s rivals with possibly their best opportunity to slow his march. Trump's strength among Republican voters is beyond dispute, but the road is long and could be bumpy.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is still hospitalized following doctors' advice, but he's "actively involved and engaged," according to national security spokesperson John Kirby. "A lot of the work that gets done in national security is done at the staff level." Austin has been treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center since Jan. 1, following complications from a surgery nearly two weeks earlier to treat prostate cancer. Kirby said Sunday that physical therapy is part of the reason doctors have kept Austin in the hospital. "The Pentagon's investigating this, and we'll see what comes out of that, but that is not the way that the process is supposed to work," Kirby said.

On Thursday, COE prices for lower-end cars fell to about $48,000, a steep drop that shocked the market. Meanwhile, while unpopular, Singapore's COE prices are working for now.

Walter de Heer, a professor of physics at Georgia Institute of Technology, holds a molecular model of graphene in his lab. Photo: Georgia Institute of TechnologyA team of scientists have determined graphene, the same substance found in common pencil lead, can act as a semiconductor—helping set it on the path to one day be turned into computer chips. The research, published in the scientific journal Nature last week, opens up the possibility that graphene, long a subject of scientific study, could be used as an alternative to silicon, the most prevalent material found in chips today.

The final poll from Iowa’s premier pollster, Ann Selzer, has Trump at 48% followed by former South Carolina Gov. If the final outcome Monday night mirrors the poll, Trump will have won the highest Iowa GOP caucus vote share for a non-incumbent ever. A Haley win in the first primary race in the nation would indicate that Trump is not invincible. He did more than 5 points better than where his final Iowa poll had him. (His 28-point margin over Bradley was the same as the final poll found, as both Bradley and Gore won some undecided voters.)

In the United States, California continues to have the most solar energy, followed by Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Arizona. China was one of the few growing markets this year for wind, the Global Wind Energy Council said. Faster permitting and other improvements in key markets such as Germany and India also helped add more wind energy. The top three markets this year are still China, the United States, and Germany for wind energy produced on land, and China, the United Kingdom, and Germany for offshore. The analysts are predicting that the global industry will rebound next year and make nearly 12% more wind energy available worldwide.

Prosecutors painted Majors as a controlling partner, who once threatened suicide to manipulate. Defense said Jabbari threatened suicide, and the allegations were the result of being scorned. "He even threatened suicide to control her." In June of 2022, she went to a music festival in the UK with a friend where cellphone service was spotty, Perez told the jury. "He told her that she needed to comport herself in the way he needed her to be."
