The multiyear sponsorship, which begins on January 1, 2024, makes Bud Light the “official beer partner” of the UFC, with the beer branding having a “highly visible presence” during fights and weigh-ins. The new agreement is a reunion for Bud Light and the UFC, after a previous sponsorship ended in 2017. Bud Light replaces Modelo as UFC’s beer sponsor, the Mexican lager that has dethroned Bud Light from its title of America’s top-selling beer. Sales of Bud Light are still sinking, with volumes down 30% year-over-year for the four weeks ending on October 7, according to NIQ data given to Beer Business Daily newsletter.

HUSAVIK, Iceland (AP) — Iceland’s prime minister and women across the volcanic island nation went on strike Tuesday to push for an end to unequal pay and gender-based violence. Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir said that she would stay home as part of the women's strike — “kvennaverkfal” in Icelandic — and expected other women in her Cabinet would do the same. Iceland's trade unions, the main organizers of the strike, called on women and nonbinary people to refuse both paid and unpaid work, including household chores, for the day. “Foreign women are more vulnerable,” said Alice Clarke, a cloth designer from Canada who has lived in Iceland for 30 years. The moves come after a two-year hiring boom during the pandemic, fueled by a surge in Wall Street activity. "Banks are cutting costs where they can because things are really uncertain next year," Chris Marinac, research director at Janney Montgomery Scott, said in a phone interview. In the coming weeks, the bank will terminate around 1% or 2% of its employees, according to a person with knowledge of the plans. The bank has cut about 2% of its workforce this year amid a protracted slowdown in investment banking activity.
