Shares of Trump Media continued to sink on Thursday, closing at a fresh low, following Tuesday's presidential debate between its majority shareholder, former President Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Shares of the Truth Social owner, which trade under the ticker "DJT," are down nearly 14% since the debate Tuesday night in Philadelphia, hosted by ABC News. But the slide in Trump Media shares — which often rise and fall in line with Trump's political fortunes — suggests that investors may not be convinced that Trump won the debate. In a Thursday afternoon post on Truth Social, the Republican nominee announced he would not be doing another debate. Shares of Trump Media are down about 60% since their most recent surge in July, after failed assassination attempt on Trump.

Bitcoin is likely to reach at least one more all-time high by the end of this year, according to Standard Chartered. That's likely regardless of whether Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump wins the presidential election this November – a variable that others have viewed as a make-or-break game changer for the industry since Trump threw his public support behind the industry this summer. "BTC will end 2024 at fresh all-time highs under either election outcome – [circa] $125,000 level under Trump or c.$75,000 level under Harris," he said. The firm maintains its view that bitcoin will reach the $200,000 level by the end of 2025, regardless of this year's election outcome. That's one reason so many are hoping the election could trigger some movement in bitcoin.

New York CNN —It’s easy to dismiss many presidential candidates’ campaign promises as empty, because Congress would need to approve them. Alex Durante, an economist at the Tax Foundation, a right-leaning think tank, told CNN that 100% tariffs would threaten the economy. It’s possible he is floating 100% tariffs as just a threat designed to change the behavior of other countries. ‘No question it’s inflationary’The Trump campaign did not provide an explanation to CNN about how Trump would implement 100% tariffs nor what the trigger would be. He said Trump’s tariff plan, if enacted, would risk setting off a market panic like former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss did in 2022.

Vance, the Ohio senator and running mate to former President Donald Trump, said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" that the Democratic presidential nominee "has flooded the country with 25 million illegal aliens." During an Aug. 28 speech in Wisconsin, Vance claimed Harris "let in 25 million illegal aliens." He specified in the same speech that those alleged 25 million people are currently "here in this country illegally." The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Homeland Security Statistics in April estimated that 11 million unauthorized immigrants were living in the U.S. as of Jan. 1, 2022. That total marked a decline from an estimated 11.6 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. in 2010, but an increase from 10.5 million in January 2020, according to the office.

And for Trump, flipping Pennsylvania — a state he narrowly won in 2016 but lost in 2020 — would give him a broader path to winning back the White House. Trump tried to bring fracking into focusIn 2019, when Harris was running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, she voiced support for a ban on hydraulic fracturing — or fracking. And recognizing the political potency of the issue, Harris on Tuesday sought to distance herself from her past comments by pointing to her record as vice president. From 1992 to 2012, only Democratic presidential nominees carried the state. In the state's Real Clear Politics polling average, Harris and Trump are both currently tied at 47.6% support.

Washington CNN —The Harris campaign is launching a new abortion-focused ad Thursday, capitalizing on what officials believe was one of the most pivotal exchanges between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump during Tuesday’s presidential debate. Harris’ team prepared the vice president to confront Trump on nationwide abortion restrictions. The newly released ad includes both candidates’ responses on abortion on the debate stage. Harris, in response, ran through personal stories of women struggling to get health care while navigating abortion restrictions. Harris campaign officials spent Wednesday poring over footage of the debate to identify key moments to put into new campaign TV and digital ads, according to the campaign, seeking to amplify what they perceive to be the strongest debate exchange.
