BALTIMORE AP —When Trea Ellinger left a Baltimore drug rehab facility last summer, he assured his anxious mother that everything was fine. His mother, Lori Ellinger, questions the autopsy’s findings and wants to know why paramedics decided to use an injectable sedative. “As long as he’s not lying face down, that would be great,” one of the medics says. Four minutes later, the medics discussed getting Ellinger repositioned, but they didn’t act immediately. Ellinger was unhandcuffed and placed on his back as medics began performing chest compressions, according to the report.

SDC employees worked on Pvolve marketing campaigns, and Pvolve employees took trips on David Katzman's jet. Craig Wright, self-declared inventor of Bitcoin, arrives at federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida, U.S., on Friday, June 28, 2019. LONDON — Craig Wright, an Australian man who claimed to be the inventor of bitcoin , was on Tuesday referred to British prosecutors for committing alleged perjury. On Tuesday, British High Court Judge James Mellor decided to refer a case against Wright's claim to be the inventor of bitcoin to the Crown Prosecution Service — which is the organization that prosecutes criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. The CPS will now consider whether Wright should be prosecuted for what Mellor called "wholescale perjury and forgery of documents," and decide on whether a warrant for arrest and possible extradition is needed. Wright has remained mostly silent since a High Court ruling was issued claiming that he had lied "extensively and repeatedly" in his evidence attempting to prove the case that he was bitcoin's inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto.

The French government has put thousands of homeless immigrants on buses and sent them out of Paris ahead of the Olympics. The immigrants said they were promised housing elsewhere, only to end up living on unfamiliar streets far from home or flagged for deportation. President Emmanuel Macron of France has promised that the Olympic Games will showcase the country’s grandeur. But the Olympic Village was built in one of Paris’s poorest suburbs, where thousands of people live in street encampments, shelters or abandoned buildings. City officials encourage them to board buses to cities like Lyon or Marseille.

Officers interviewed two motel residents who called 911; they said they did not want to leave their homes. Alyssa Pointer for Business InsiderIn Georgia, an eviction requires a court order, but the law doesn't explicitly make lockouts illegal. In this case, an officer classified the incident as a "crime against property" — a crime committed by the residents themselves. In unincorporated Clark County, where the property is located, operating a short-term rental without a license is illegal. Matthew Main is an attorney who has represented residents in similarly precarious housing situations in New York City, where state law also grants residents tenants' rights after 30 days.

For the last few months, tourists in certain areas of Spain have found fewer welcome mats and more hostility. Anti-tourism graffiti loops across buildings, and tens of thousands of people have protested this year against unsustainable mass tourism. Over the weekend in Barcelona, locals’ anger over housing shortages, overcrowding and the cost of living was tangible — and wet. Residents of the Catalan capital took to the streets on Saturday with water guns, squirting them at diners eating al fresco. Some carried signs with messages like “tourists go home” and “you are not welcome,” and doused families at restaurants.

The nature of illegal lockouts means they are hard to track directly. One of the responding officers calls a sergeant over, who says there's nothing else they can do. While only 14% of lockout calls led to a police report, 86% of calls about shoplifting did. As they walk over, one of the officers tells the other to look up "illegal lockout" on his phone. A 2006 bill that would have defined illegal lockouts for all Illinois residents was defeated.

The authorities in England were hunting on Wednesday for a man who was suspected of killing three women the previous night with a crossbow and possibly other weapons in a small, leafy town north of London, according to Hertfordshire Police. The police said they arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday and found three women with serious injuries. The BBC reported that the victims were the wife and two daughters of one of its horse-racing commentators. “As we’ve just reported, the three women killed in a crossbow attack in Bushey, near Watford, are Carol Hunt, the wife of the BBC commentator John Hunt, and two of their daughters,” the broadcaster wrote. The police were searching for Kyle Clifford, 26, they said, warning people that “he may be in possession of a crossbow, do not approach.” It was not immediately clear on Wednesday what the relation was between Mr. Clifford and the three women.

His mother was addicted to drugs; he never knew his father. He grew up shuttling among foster homes, where he started drinking beer around age 5 and smoking marijuana at age 9. A handful of states, including Texas and Nevada, have set up dedicated systems designed to restore tenants to their homes after an illegal lockout. She and her family still don't have a new apartment, she said, and the eviction cases on her record don't help. BI reviewed two years' worth of lockout cases from the department and found city lawyers routinely dismissed tickets, often without documenting why. Bridget Bennett for Business InsiderThat afternoon, Brown had three cases on his docket in which tenants were alleging they'd been illegally locked out and dozens of cases in which landlords were seeking formal evictions. In 2022, Miami-Dade County passed a tenant's bill of rights that underlines the illegality of lockouts and limits a landlord's ability to harass tenants.
