Brandon Bell / Getty ImagesUnsolicited emails that included the stolen material from Trump’s campaign were then sent to associates of his Democratic political rival. The hack against the Trump campaign is just the latest example of an increasingly brazen approach by Iran that includes alleged murder plots against dissidents and defectors on American soil and an assassination threat against former President Trump, U.S. officials and analysts say. For more than two months, hackers who stole the documents have tried to persuade the American media to write about or publish the files they stole. “I’m just not a believer of the news media as an arm of the government, doing its work combating foreign influence.

A bulldozer moves coal that will be burned to generate electricity at the American Electric Power coal-fired power plant in Winfield, West Virginia. The U.S. currently maintains the largest nuclear fleet in the world with 94 operational reactors totaling about 100 gigawatts of power. The U.S. needs to add 200 gigawatts of nuclear, Goff told CNBC in an interview. "A lot of the data centers are coming in and saying they do need firm, 24/7, baseload clean electricity," Goff said. But restarting reactors in the U.S. will only provide a small fraction of the nuclear power that is needed, he said.

This was, perhaps, the closest thing the White Sox have had to a prideful moment all season. As The Athletic’s Jayson Stark noted, the White Sox have used 29 position players this season. After their most recent downturn — a 12-game skid — the White Sox besting the Mets for worst ever became a matter of when, not if. Getz insisted the White Sox are on the right trajectory and even said ownership will “potentially” invest more in the organizational infrastructure. Now members of this White Sox team will shoulder the burden of 121 losses and counting into an uncertain future.

The lender disclosed that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau could punish JPMorgan for its role in Zelle, the giant peer-to-peer digital payments network. In response, JPMorgan issued a thinly veiled threat: "The firm is evaluating next steps, including litigation." Trade groups say that in the aftermath of the financial crisis, banks became easy targets for populist attacks from Democrat-led regulatory agencies. Amid the scrutiny, the bank began warning Zelle users on the Chase app to "Stay safe from scams" and added disclosures that customers won't likely be refunded for bogus transactions. While all of these battles are ongoing, the financial industry has racked up several victories so far.

United States Capitol building and an Iranian flag are seen at the photo exhibition organized by the Iranian-American community and supporters of the Iranian Resistance at the National mall in Washington D.C., United States. Federal prosecutors on Friday announced criminal charges against three Iranian nationals in connection with a recent hack of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign and other cyberattacks. The charges come amid heightened scrutiny about how foreign actors, especially Iran, China and Russia, are trying to influence the American presidential race between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. Officials have said that Iran is working to hurt Trump's campaign, while Russia prefers Trump, who has declined to say he wants Ukraine to win its war against invading Kremlin forces. China, meanwhile, has pushed anti-democracy influence operations but has not clearly sided with either the Republican or Democratic tickets, officials have said.

Smartmatic sued Newsmax Media in 2021, alleging it claimed Smartmatic’s devices rigged the 2020 election. That means that after the 2029 Super Bowl, the NFL has the right to completely rejigger the media landscape, if it so chooses. NFL games last year were 93 of the top 100 most-watched TV broadcasts. But I also know that some legacy media executives are already thinking about 2029 and brainstorming internally about how they can afford to compete against the tech giants for NFL games. The NBA, in its most recent rights deal, only wanted three media packages to help with consumer confusion and subscription fatigue. Given how popular NFL games are versus everything else on TV, the architecture of the NFL rights is the single biggest decision in the American media industry.
