CNN —A day before Morgan Perigo’s 83rd birthday last month, an unexpected package showed up on his doorstep. In it was the 1965 McMaster University graduation ring he lost in 1977. Diver Alex Davis shows Morgan Perigo's long-missing graduation ring. The search narrowed down the initials to a Frederick Morgan Perigo, who goes by Morgan, and the school immediately notified him. Perigo explained to McQuigge how he originally lost the ring in 1977 on a trip with his family to Barbados.

CNN —Monkey mayhem continues as 42 primates remain on the loose from a research facility in South Carolina. On Wednesday, 43 rhesus macaque primates escaped from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee. The loose primates continue to interact with their encaged counterparts inside the facility. Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard told police Saturday recovery efforts will continue “for as long as it takes,” the statement said. The Alpha Genesis test facility specializes in nonhuman primate research for the biomedical research community.

CNN —Ukraine launched a drone attack on a Russian chemical plant in the western city of Tula overnight on Friday into Saturday, according to the country’s security service. According to the SBU, Aleksinsky chemical plant was hit by at least 13 Ukrainian drones, resulting in explosions and clouds of smoke following the attack. Social media footage verified by CNN shows the attack on Aleksinsky chemical plant, which lies around 120 miles (200 km) south of Moscow, launched by Ukraine’s SBU Security Service and Special Operations Forces. CNN —Pentagon officials are holding informal discussions about how the Department of Defense would respond if Donald Trump issues orders to deploy active-duty troops domestically and fire large swaths of apolitical staffers, defense officials told CNN. “Troops are compelled by law to disobey unlawful orders,” said another defense official. “But the question is what happens then – do we see resignations from senior military leaders? At the time, defense officials tried to include as few civilian employees as possible to limit the impact to the workforce, sources said. But “there are still ways a new administration could work around these protections,” a defense official said, even if it might take several months to do so.

Nissan released its second-quarter results ended September on Thursday, which showed that it recorded a 9.3 billion yen (about $62 million) net loss, a reversal from the 190.7 billion yen net profit it made in the same quarter last year. Operating profit in the second quarter plunged almost 85% year-on-year to 31.9 billion yen, while revenue dropped 5% to 2.99 trillion yen. Nissan also sharply lowered its full-year outlook, cutting its revenue projection to 12.7 trillion yen from 14 trillion yen, while also reducing its operating profit forecast to 150 billion yen from 500 billion yen. It aims to reduce fixed costs by 300 billion yen and variable costs by 100 billion yen, compared to its 2024 financial year.
