The National Bureau of Statistics of China reports retail sales have been increasing since last November. "We're seeing the incremental rebound from the Chinese consumer," the firm's chief investment officer told " ETF Edge " this week. China's pandemic-battered economy is starting to see consumers open their wallets wider, according to KraneShares' Brendan Ahern. "Domestic travel [is] rebounding … but we've yet to see that from the international sector," the ETF provider's CEO said. Rhind told CNBC in a special interview later in the week that international travel from China could start to rebound this summer following a sluggish start.
The investor behind a top 10 global ETF sees a bearish trend in the Big Tech rally. Anna Paglia, who oversees the tech-heavy Invesco QQQ Trust , sees signs investors are starting to take a defensive approach to the group. Two other top holdings, Meta Platforms and Nvidia , are up more than 100% for the year. "People don't know if … this performance is only driven by the mega caps or if there's more in there," she said. "We are still firm believers in the QQQ, but it's a wait and see for our clients," she said.

The investor who ran the country's biggest natural gas ETF said he believes prices have hit bottom. John Love, who managed the United States Natural Gas Fund , cites global demand and production dynamics for his bull case. Natural gas prices rose 6% this week and just notched their fourth positive week in five. Since then, several European countries including Germany have announced new LNG, or liquefied natural gas, projects or are expanding existing ones to reduce their dependence on natural gas exports. Teucrium Trading CEO Sal Gilbertie said he believes natural gas has been trying to build a bottom over the past four to six weeks.
This dividend-paying ETF may help protect investors during wild market swings. "We want strong, powerful dividend growth," the firm's chief investment officer Kevin Simpson told "ETF Edge" on Monday. "We tactically sprinkle in some short-term, out of the money covered calls." When asked about whether selling covered calls forfeits upside reward potential, Simpson claims there's a balance at play. "Covered calls work best when you need them ... [the] most."
As luxury stocks make waves overseas, State Street Global Advisors believes investors should consider European ETFs if they want to capture the gains from their outperformance. Bartolini lists price momentum as a third driver of the investor shift. His SPDR Euro Stoxx 50 ETF (FEZ) is considered a broad European ETF. While the fund's top holding is LVMH at 7.29%, according to the company's website, Bartolini contends the shift applies beyond luxury stocks and to lower-end consumer stocks. His firm's website lists French cosmetics company L'Oreal — which is up almost 30% this year — as another one of his fund's major holdings.
