Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., expects the panel to make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, he told reporters Tuesday. “We have made decisions on criminal referrals,” Thompson said. Thompson later told reporters that he thinks there is “general agreement” on the panel that referrals will be issued. The panel has been conflicted over whether to issue refer its findings to the Justice Department. CNN —The US Food and Drug Administration is considering shifting its blood donation policy away from blanket assessments toward questionnaires that focus more on individual risk, it said Wednesday. “The FDA remains committed to gathering the scientific data related to alternative donor deferral policies that maintain a high level of blood safety,” the statement says. Those who have not would be allowed to donate blood, an FDA official told the Journal. The current policy requires men who have sex with men to wait three months after sexual contact with other men before they can donate blood. Other men who have sex with men are still required to refrain from sex for three months before donating in the UK.

Letitia James, the New York attorney general, also has years of tax returns, and has brought a civil case based largely on them. First, the updated House request to the Treasury Department in 2021 calls for more recent tax returns, this time for tax years 2015-2020. Tax returns in the hands of a congressional committee are not the same as tax returns in the hands of a prosecutor. Government prosecutors can obtain, but not disclose, the contents of tax returns — unless, that is, it becomes necessary to introduce relevant portions of the returns into evidence. After evidence came to light that President Richard Nixon had used taxpayer information to target political opponents, legislation was enacted in 1976 that severely restricted a president’s ability to disclose taxpayer information.

VIENNA, Nov 17 (Reuters) - The U.N. atomic watchdog's 35-nation Board of Governors passed a resolution on Thursday ordering Iran to cooperate urgently with the agency's investigation into uranium traces found at three undeclared sites, diplomats at the closed-door vote said. On Thursday it indicated it would call off a meeting with the IAEA due to be held later this month meant to end the impasse over explaining the origin of the uranium traces. The IAEA responded by saying it hoped the meeting would take place.

And in DC, tipped workers, defined under federal law as anyone who regularly receives at least $30 per month in tips, are seeing a victory. Other states have moved to increase their minimum wages in the past few months, including three states that raised their state minimum wages on July 1 — Connecticut, Nevada, and Oregon. Critics of a minimum wage increase argue that a raise would negatively impact employment, but that may not be the case.

PremiumsThe premium is the sum you pay an insurer each month to participate in the health plan. It's perhaps the most transparent and easy-to-understand cost component of a health plan — the equivalent of a sticker price. Eighty-eight percent of workers covered by a health plan have a deductible in 2022, according to KFF. For example, would you struggle to pay a $1,000 medical bill if you require health care? If so, a health plan with a larger monthly premium and a smaller deductible may be your best bet, Sun said.
