Volunteers with the party worked feverishly to hold onto their majority, shuttling voters to polling stations, extolling the party’s virtues from loudspeakers on pickup trucks and handing out the party’s bright yellow T-shirts. Top party officials chanted alongside these foot soldiers, as if rallying them for battle. Pollsters have widely predicted that the party will win a plurality but draw less than 50 percent of the vote for the first time. If that happens, it will be forced to ally with one or more other parties in order to form a government and remain in power. Last week, Google announced plans to change its search results page to prioritize a feature called "AI Overview," which uses AI to summarize information at the top of a search results page. Google said on Tuesday there will be ads within AI Overview and that they will be relevant to both the query and the information. The ads include virtual try-on options, a technology Google rolled out last year with select retailers. Executives said at the time of the report last month that they saw increased customer conversions from ad clients using generative AI tools in its "Performance Max." The company said it is giving advertisers more image editing tools and said Google AI will generate more visual options and "context" for their ads.

A century ago, the timber-and-iron tower had supported a tram carrying precious salt across the Inyo Mountains that had been mined from a remote valley in the California desert. More recently, it stood as an artifact in the Saline Valley, and it marked the edge of a hiking trail through the sun-baked wilderness. But a visitor to the Death Valley National Park in California brought the 113-year-old structure down on April 19 when it was used in an effort to pull a pickup truck out of the mud, prompting the National Park Service to investigate who was responsible for the damage. The service’s request for information from the public elicited dozens of calls and messages, a video uploaded to YouTube, and finally a confession. A park visitor said that the damage “was done during a time of desperation while being deeply stuck in mud” and had taken full responsibility, according to a Park Service update provided on Thursday.

The American pickup truck market is dominated by domestic brands, primarily Ford , Chevrolet , GMC and Ram . But the Toyota Tacoma shows how a foreign automaker can find and control a niche within that market. Toyota introduced the Tacoma in 1995 as a successor to the Toyota Pickup, famously known as the Hilux elsewhere in the world. What's more, of the some seven models in the midsize segment, Tacoma is the only one that comes with a long bed. Watch the video to learn more about how the Tacoma has stayed atop the midsize truck segment, and how it is working to meet the challenge of an expanding market.

Senate Democrats (including independents who caucus with them) hold 23 seats up for election this year; Republicans hold 11. Positive signs for DemocratsBut is the race for the Senate really over if Republicans just win West Virginia? Democratic Senate candidates seem to be at least tied or ahead in Arizona, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Of course, Democratic Senate candidates outrunning the top of the ticket is nothing new. For Democrats to have any chance of holding the Senate, Republicans would have to lose all these Senate races.

It's not exactly a great time to put more electric vehicles on sale. But the tides finally are turning in Chevrolet's favor, Majoros said, as EV shoppers gravitate to more practical options and legacy brands. Recent studies on a new cohort of electric car shoppers show that they are more inclined to consider purchasing an electric car from a legacy brand. After years of a virtual monopoly on the EV market, shoppers are growing tired of Tesla and looking for fresher options.

These shoppers are more practical, frugal, and more likely to be considering electric, hybrid, and gas-powered options at the same time. In these matchups, hybrids have been winning as of late, a phenomenon that Musk has said is detrimental to the electric vehicle market.
