Eighteen months ago the company opened the doors of its assembly hall outside of Phoenix and invited journalists to drive the company’s mega-output flagship, the Air Dream Edition Performance, a catapult drawn taut with 1,111 electric horsepower. Executives then had hoped to deliver 20,000 sedans a year, even as the company added capacity for the real rainmaker, the Lucid Gravity SUV.
Jeff decided that he and Sam would be the only two permitted to have phones inside, in order to limit photographs. It was something Jeff learned to do from the nurses at Bristol Hospital a million years ago when he was a paramedic. He had already made the mistake when one fluttered out as he was dumping an uneaten lunch into the trash. They would set up staging tables in the tent for mass processing of the evidence, nothing they’d ever done at this scale. The problem was that during these interruptions it was not as if they could just step outside for a break.
“I think he thinks he is a guard,” 76ers shooting guard Tyrese Maxey said of Embiid. Embiid was not always so comfortable handling the ball. At the time, Rivers said, he heard from fans who wanted Embiid to stop drifting to the perimeter. But Rivers said he resisted their pleas to shape Embiid into more of an old-school center. Get him on the post!’ ” Rivers recalled in an interview.
Hill Sixteen was the third horse to die at this year's three-day festival after a heavy fall at the first fence of Saturday's National. Two other horses, Recite A Prayer and Cape Gentleman, were assessed by veterinary staff on the course. The start of the National, one of the highest-profile events in Britain's sporting calendar, was delayed for around 15 minutes after the protesters made their way on to the course. The protesters say the race is cruel to horses, with many having died over the daunting fences down the years. "The Grand National is and always will be an iconic sporting event and the actions of a small number of people will do nothing to diminish its huge and enduring international appeal."

LONDON, April 15 (Reuters) - The start of the annual Grand National horse race was briefly delayed on Saturday after a large group of animal rights protesters forced their way into the Aintree grounds to disrupt one of the highest-profile sporting events in Britain. Police said they had arrested 118 people on suspicion of offences including criminal damage and causing public nuisance after protesters sought to scale the perimeter fence and access the track to prevent the 40 horses from starting the race. Officers were seen pinning some protesters in pink tops to the ground while others were pulled from ladders. "Just after 5pm a large number of protesters attempted to gain entry to the course," Assistant Chief Constable Paul White said. Animal rights protesters say the Grand National exploits animals for entertainment and can lead to the death of horses.
The suspect, Jack Teixeira, will appear in court Friday. Ukrainian forces are withdrawing from some positions in the eastern city of Bakhmut under heavy Russian fire, Britain's Ministry of Defense reported. Ukraine has for months refused to give up on its defense of Bakhmut, despite both sides suffering heavy casualties and the city being entirely destroyed. Kyiv says that conceding Bakhmut would give Russia a major access route to much more of eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi reiterated calls for relevant parties to establish a security perimeter around Ukraine's embattled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, warning "we are living on borrowed time when it comes to nuclear safety and security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant."
WASHINGTON, April 12 (Reuters) - Global creditors, debtor nations and international financial institutions on Wednesday agreed to improve data sharing, set clearer timetables and take other steps aimed at jumpstarting debt restructuring processes. Reuters reported Beijing was poised to drop its demand that multilateral development banks share in debt restructuring losses, partly in exchange for the IMF and World Bank providing earlier access to their debt sustainability analyses for countries receiving debt treatments. The statement said the debt roundtable participants agreed on the importance to urgently improve information sharing on macroeconomic projections and debt sustainability assessments in debt treatment cases. "This work will also help in clarifying potential timetables to accelerate debt restructurings," the statement said. It said the IMF, World Bank and the G20 presidency will continue to work closely together and with other partners to further support the international response to current debt challenges.
Stephen Walker says he was getting the cake for his daughter's 3rd birthday, but it didn't go as planned. "Costco will give you exactly what you know you didn't need," Walker captioned the post, which has gained nearly 2,000 comments. According to Today.com, Walker ended up keeping the cake since he was "in a time crunch" and planned to add a cake topper to the dessert anyway. "That'll just be the cake topper, and I'll just take a picture every year. So it's like, a picture of a picture of a picture, like 'Inception.'"

WASHINGTON, April 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. banking system remains strong and resilient, but American officials will continue working with foreign counterparts to bolster financial resilience after recent bank failures, U.S. Treasury Undersecretary Jay Shambaugh said on Monday. Shambaugh said recent bank failures and developments were very different from those of the 2008 global financial crisis, which centered on credit risk, but regulators were working hard to shore up confidence in liquidity both at home and abroad. "Recent events have in some sense highlighted some of the downside risks that exist, but they haven't really fundamentally altered the overall picture of our baseline," he said. Work will continue with international partners to increase financial resilience, he said, adding that recent events were a reminder to complete any unfinished regulatory business and "repair and fix any cracks in the regulatory perimeter." Will PryceOne of the most expensive townhouses in London listed Monday for 60 million pounds (about $74 million). The home's subterranean level includes a swimming pool that spans 39 feet and a pool deck furnished with daybeds. Below the townhouse residences are subterranean parking spots that eliminate the need for on-street parking. Here's a closer look around — and under — London's newest $74 million listing, which is being sold fully furnished. This can be achieved on a subterranean level because the rear garden is one level below street grade.

Security experts said the Covenant School apparently had good safety protocols. It was a grim reminder that any campus could be the target of gun violence, spurring educators around the country to review security protocols and try to reassure parents. Protective measures notwithstanding, Corcoran said the Covenant School shooting exposed how deadly such attacks can be even when school leaders "did everything right." It is not clear that hardening school security always works.

REUTERS/Lorena SopenaBARRACAS, Spain, March 26 (Reuters) - Officials urged 'fire tourists' to keep away from blazes raging in eastern Spain on Sunday, saying onlookers were putting themselves at risk and disrupting efforts to quell the flames. Police had spotted 14 cyclists near the scene trying to get a closer look, Gabriela Bravo, the regional head of interior affairs in the Valencia region, told reporters. "We ask once again and above all tourists not to engage in fire tourism, not to approach the perimeter area," she said. In Spain, 493 fires destroyed a record 307,000 hectares of land last year, according to the Commission's European Forest Fire Information System.

The DOJ refused to back Trump's claim that he is absolutely immune from civil suits related to the Capitol riot. Trump's speech before the riot "would not be within the outer perimeter of the Office of the President of the United States," the DOJ said. Trump's legal team asked a federal appeals court last year to overturn a lower court ruling that he could be held liable in civil lawsuits connected to the Capitol siege. "Consequently, it is especially important to avoid allowing the judicial department to pass judgment on the political statements and discourse of the President of the United States," they added. The United States respectfully submits that the Court should reject that categorical argument."
It does not include incitement of imminent private violence of the sort the district court found that plaintiffs' complaints have plausibly alleged here." A U.S. District Court judge in February 2022 ruled against Trump's efforts to dismiss civil lawsuits by the two police officers and members of Congress. But they stressed that the U.S. was not expressing a view on whether Trump's speech incited the Capitol riot. But denying absolute immunity protection to the "incitement of imminent private violence" should not "unduly chill" the president's speech, they determined. Trump was impeached in the House on an article of "incitement of insurrection" after the riot.
The 6-foot-3-inch Ukrainian marine smiled and extended his right arm, a lightweight fusion of silicon, carbon fiber composites and thermoplastic. In a separate conversation with CNBC, Revived Soldiers Ukraine President Iryna Discipio said the effort to aid wounded soldiers "is extremely important." "I was in this sort of dark basement shelter with other wounded soldiers. "At that facility, there was one side for the [uninjured] imprisoned, another for wounded Ukrainian soldiers and a separate area for injured Russian soldiers." Russian troops staying in the hospital who could move on their own were allowed access to the open room where wounded Ukrainian soldiers were kept.

Feb 14 (Reuters) - A tanker truck hauling nitric acid overturned on an interstate highway near Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday, causing a leak of its highly toxic, volatile cargo in a fiery wreck that shut down the road for hours, authorities said. The Arizona Department of Public Safety urged residents nearby to remain inside and said first responders were working to evacuate a perimeter around the incident "out of an abundance of caution." It said state police anticipated an "extensive" closing of Interstate Highway 10 after the "injury collision," which disrupted the major east-west traffic artery and truck route that crosses much of the U.S. Southwest. The Tucson Fire Department said it was helping "control the hazmat and brush fire incidents" at the crash site. The extent of injuries and whether other vehicles were involved were not explained, nor was the accident's cause or scope of the spill.
"We are looking at additional banks and financial institutions to see how Russia deals with the outside world. Some European banks, including UniCredit (CRDI.MI) and Raiffeisen Bank International (RBIV.VI), have large businesses there and must follow local rules to grant payment holidays to soldiers. ENFORCEMENTO'Brien said that the United States would step up enforcement, something the EU also hopes to improve. "We are now looking at how sanctions, including financial sanctions, can be most effective," he said. "While the majority of important Russian banks are sanctioned, there is a lot outside that perimeter that you could go after," said Nicolas Veron, of Washington think tank the Peterson Institute for International Economics.

Ukrainian defenders, who have already held out for months, were braced for new ground attacks, Ukrainian military officials said on Monday. The Russian assault on Bakhmut has been spearheaded by mercenaries of the Wagner group, who have made small but steady gains. The Ukrainian military reported Russian shelling all along the frontline and said 16 settlements had been bombarded near Bakhmut. The Ukrainian governors of Luhansk and Donetsk have recently said that a predicted Russian offensive had begun. Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, in what it calls a "special military operation" to "denazify" the country and protect Russian speakers.
