Lawyers for Sean Combs filed his bail appeal on Tuesday night. AdvertisementLawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs filed his bail appeal on Tuesday night — citing Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere as examples of sex offenders whose denials of bail were clearly explained and justified, unlike his own. In US v Epstein, US v Maxwell, and US v Raniere, "the detention orders were supported by detailed factual findings and explicit weighing of the 3142(g) factors," the appeal read. Related stories"Mr. Combs believes the evidence will show that to the extent such activities occurred, all individuals who participated were adults voluntarily engaged in consensual sex," Combs lawyers wrote Tuesday. Prosecutors will reply to Combs' appeal before a decision is made.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday takes on another battle over restrictions on firearms as the justices consider the Biden administration's move to ban "ghost gun" kits that allow people to assemble deadly weapons at home while skirting existing regulations. The challengers focus on the text of the Gun Control Act, saying in their brief that the law simply doesn't apply to gun kits. The ATF does not have unilateral authority to ban ghost guns, with Congress required to act if it wants to do so, they argue. Those defending the availability of ghost gun kits say that they are mostly used by hobbyists, rejecting the government's argument that criminals favor them. Although it is a gun case, the legal question does not turn on the right to bear arms under the Constitution's 2nd Amendment.

White-collar criminals who can't disconnect are spending thousands of dollars on prison cellphones. Contraband phones go for $1,000 or as little as a few hundred dollars, depending on supply, at minimum-security camps, the so-called Club Feds. The stakes are particularly high for Wilson; his office continues to prosecute a violent, 90-defendant drug ring run by imprisoned people using contraband cellphones. The bureau urges Congress to pass the Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Stopping Prison Contraband Act, which would upgrade the charge of smuggling contraband cellphones into a Federal prison from a misdemeanor offense to a felony, Murphy said. White-collar criminals tend to put their contraband phones to more benign uses.

The Supreme Court in rejecting that request did not explain its reason for doing so. Shkreli's request that the Supreme Court take his appeal of federal court decision was his last chance to overturn the penalty related to the drug Daraprim . People pass outside the U.S. Supreme Court on October 7, 2024 in Washington, DC. Shkreli in June asked the Supreme Court to hear his appeal of that ruling, but only as it applied to the financial penalty. The attorney said that the Supreme Court should hear Shkreli's appeal to resolve the so-called circuit split on the question of a defendant's financial liability.

With AI reshaping daily operations of a real estate agent's business by automating tasks — from generating property listings to conducting neighborhood analyses — the agent's focus in day-to-day activities will shift. Serhant says AI won't virtualize relationships, but for the real estate agents who embrace the AI revolution — which he says is a necessary move to make — it will strengthen their relationships. The real estate industry is still in the initial stages of adopting AI and understanding remains low among real estate professionals, but the interest is there. But the survey also finds that real estate professionals have very low understanding of AI compared to other technologies. The FBI reported a big year-over-year increase in wire fraud cybercrime losses in 2023, driven significantly by real estate transactions.

Hard seltzers, spiked seltzers, and their ilk have been marketed as lighter than traditional alcoholic beverages. In the 2010s, the hard seltzers started to pop up, with names like White Claw and Truly, both of which launched in 2016. Advertisement"During the pandemic, hard seltzers really blew up, and I think hard seltzers are one of those ones that were perceived as a little bit of a better-for-you option," said Kaleigh Theriault, an associate director of beverage-alcohol thought leadership at NIQ, a market research firm. The market got saturated, and people started to realize there could be a lot more to canned alcohol than beer and hard seltzers. Much of the office market may be mired in a downturn, but demand has been strong for high-end space. New office construction has dropped off sharply, leading to a potential upcoming shortage. That demand has persisted even as office construction has been stifled by higher interest rates and inflation, which have pushed up costs. Worries over the health of the office market have also made lenders reluctant to finance new development. 8 million square feet of that is pre-leased, meaning that there is only about 10 million square feet of upcoming available top quality space.
