When Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer and would halt his public engagements to undergo treatment, it predictably set off a storm of questions. What kind of cancer? What form of treatment? And the essential, if often unspoken, question when a patient faces a potentially existential health threat: Would he survive? The palace, paradoxically, fueled this frenzy by disclosing more about the king’s medical condition than it had for Queen Elizabeth II or any other previous British monarch.

S&P 500 futures also inched down 0.1%, while Nasdaq 100 futures slipped just 0.03%. During Monday's main trading session, the S&P 500 lost 0.32%, pulling back from its record high from last week that was powered by megacap tech stocks. "There's a lot of momentum, but I'm worried about [the S&P 500 at] 20 times earnings, and that the Fed's not going to live up to [rate] cut expectations. And I don't see how we get double-digit earnings growth," Doll said on CNBC's "Closing Bell: Overtime" on Monday. On the economic front Tuesday, Wall Street will be keeping an eye out for the New York Fed's household debt and credit report for the fourth quarter.

I recently took a solo cruise on the Norwegian Sky from Miami to the Dominican Republic. I worried I might feel trapped on the ship during the three-day sailing, but found the opposite. However, on a recent trip to the Dominican Republic, I thought it might be fun to switch it up and take a cruise down to the Caribbean instead of flying. Taking a solo cruise had always been a bucket list item of mine. So, for only about $300, I booked myself into an interior room on a one-way sailing from Miami to La Romana, Dominican Republic, on the Norwegian Sky.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Veteran NFL coach Leslie Frazier is expected to join the Seattle Seahawks as an associate head coach, two people with knowledge of the hire told The Associated Press on Friday. The move pairs the youngest head coach in the NFL with Frazier, who has experience as an assistant and head coach in the league. Frazier, 64, spent last season out of the NFL following a stint from 2017-22 when he was the defensive coordinator in Buffalo. Frazier also had one stint as a head coach in Minnesota. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The first of two back-to-back atmospheric rivers drenched Northern California on Thursday, flooding roads while triggering statewide storm preparations and calls for people to get ready for powerful downpours, heavy snow and damaging winds. Forecasters also said the Central Coast could see waves up to 18 feet (5.4 meters) high on Thursday and Friday. The storm came a week after heavy rain caused flooding that inundated homes and overturned cars in the county. Last winter, California was battered by numerous drought-busting atmospheric rivers that unleashed extensive flooding, big waves that hammered shoreline communities and extraordinary snowfall that crushed buildings. ___Associated Press journalists Nic Coury in Capitola, California, and Scott Sonner in Reno, Nevada, contributed to this report.

(AP) — Residents of an east Arkansas town have been without running water for the past two weeks after the state was hit by below-freezing temperatures, and the outage has forced them to line up for bottled water, fill up jugs or take showers at a truck brought in by the state. The town faced a similar crisis last summer, when the same part of the city was without water in June. The outages are affecting one of two water systems for Helena-West Helena, which was two separate cities until 2006. Each day, distribution sites for the water have seen a steady line of people filling up on water to use for their homes. CNN —The $83.3 million verdict handed down in E. Jean Carroll’s defamation case against former President Donald Trump on Friday is far more than a judgment against Trump. In May, a Manhattan federal jury found Trump sexually abused Carroll in 1996.
