How personal injury lawyers took over your TV

New York CNN —Drive down any highway in America or turn on the TV for 10 minutes and you’ll probably see an advertisement for a personal injury lawyer. Call this lawyer to get compensated now,” a typical ad for a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney goes. Many personal injury lawyers advertise aggressively because of competition and the unusual business model many practices have adopted. John Morgan runs Morgan & Morgan, the largest personal injury law firm in America. Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee, so they get paid only if they negotiate a settlement for a client or win a case at trial.

Elon was the proud father, Tesla has grown up... An executioner, Tim Cook-like is needed, not Elon," Leo tweeted.

A reminder, and a warning:In approximately two months, you’re going to start getting deluged with a gazillion, gassy “expert” opinions about what constitutes a potentially successful NFL starting quarterback. Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Ariz., will be in the books (Lions over the Bengals; Rihanna rocking “Umbrella” at halftime) and the NFL’s 2023 pre-draft nerd circus will be in full, hyperbolic frenzy, most ferociously on the topic of possible franchise QBs.
Morocco rewrite Africa's World Cup history

Cameroon upset holders Argentina in the opening match of the 1990 World Cup in Italy and went on to the quarter-finals while Senegal did the same to France when they began the defence of their title in 2002. Of the 160 matches played by African sides at the World Cup, only 37 have been won for a success rate below 25%. Most of Africa was still under colonial rule when the World Cup resumed after the Second World War but as countries gained independence, so CAF membership increased and Africa began to flex some muscle. HANDBALLThat achievement held out the promise that Africa would not take long to produce a World Cup winner, but only Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010 were able to make the last eight. It got even worse in Russia in 2018 when no African teams made it to the last 16, sparking serious reflection about the direction of the game on the continent.
“I haven’t seen sunlight in what seems like a long time,” Li told CNN, a week after the protests broke out. In recent years, Beijing has extended its crackdown on dissent to the foreign platform, detaining and jailing Chinese Twitter users who criticized the government. TwitterLi received thousands of submissions a day – and up to dozens per second at the height of the protests. Journalists, observers and activists monitored his feed closely, and some of his posts were aired on televisions across the world. And then they went to our house at midnight to harass my parents,” Li said.

Several current and former Something Navy employees told Insider they'd been inundated with emails since the spring from suppliers, freelancers, and models asking where their money was. In one email viewed by Insider, Scanlan told a supplier that cash was tight but promised payment was on the way. The current Something Navy employee said that based on data she'd seen, the retail locations most likely don't turn a profit.
Wanting a special master was right out of Trump’s stalling, obstructing and using the time to play the victim circus act. Team Trump could not muster the strength to jump over the first hurdle. Now that we know that Trump’s defense had no ground to stand on the first standard of proof, what about the other three? Well, the Trump Team could fare no better with the second or third one. Team Trump’s arguments were a sideshow.
The remains of sausage dogs were found in the 2,000-year-old drains of the Colosseum. Archaeologists said they might have been made to fight bears or perform acrobatics in ancient Rome. "We found many bones from dogs which were similar to the modern sausage dog," Alfonsina Russo, director of the Colosseum, told The Telegraph. The dogs would have been ancestors of sausage dogs rather than true dachshunds, the paper noted. The Colosseum archaeologists also found the bones of large dogs, leopards, lions, bears, and ostriches in the ancient drains.
Though in truth they laboured in the first half against a mediocre Mexico team, they celebrated as if they had won the World Cup itself. After scoring the first goal against Mexico, his second of Argentina's three at the tournament, Messi charged towards fans screaming in joy. Many in fact show the two together, arm-in-arm or Maradona looking beatifically down on Messi from heaven. Should Messi go all the way, he will of course directly match Maradona, who led Argentina to a famous 1986 World Cup win including his famous "Hand of God" and best-ever tournament goals against England en route. Even Messi looked slow and made basic errors prior to scoring against Mexico and relaxing into the player everyone knows.

There had been talk that circus surrounding the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was distracting Fernando Santos's squad. Portugal's fans behind the goal sang his name and gave him another huge ovation when he was substituted in the 88th minute. It is easy to talk about Ronaldo in terms of statistics alone, with so many milestones chalked up. Ronaldo was locked in from the start, working tirelessly to find spaces in and around the massed Ghanaian defence. Importantly for Portugal's chances of going deep in Qatar, it was not just the Ronaldo show as his team mates, especially in the second half, took more responsibility.
Elon Musk's focus on revamping Twitter puts Tesla's stock price at risk, Wedbush said in a note. "At the end of the day Musk is Tesla and Tesla is Musk," Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said. There are three risk factors to Tesla's stock price created by Musk's increased focus on Twitter. Specifically, Musk's new Twitter turnaround project creates three risk factors for Tesla's stock and its shareholders, according to the note. Ives ultimately thinks the Twitter overhang on Tesla stock is overdone given the sharp stock price decline in recent weeks.
House Republicans are planning a slew of investigations now that they've reclaimed the majority. Supporters say GOP leaders need to be "deliberative" and "organized" about the promised probes. Matt Mackowiak, a former Senate GOP staffer who is now a Texas-based political consultant, advised House Republicans to focus on what matters most to voters. Rep. Connolly urged Republicans to tread carefully, vowing to "push back against any efforts that we believe are purely political and non-factual." Aides for McCarthy and Jordan did not immediately respond to requests for comment about any GOP calls to tread carefully next year.

REUTERS/Murad SezerKHERSON, Ukraine, Nov 19 (Reuters) - When veteran Ukrainian circus director Vladyslav Holub realised in early March that Russian forces were approaching the city of Kherson, he and two other performers joined an elderly militia manning a checkpoint on the outskirts. The Russian forces attacked, destroying his circus tent and a nearby mall and shooting him in the leg before taking him prisoner. "I told them, 'I'm from the circus, here's my trailer, let me crawl over there'. I crawled up to the trailer, and then in the morning, an ambulance came," he said on Friday, a week after the Russian forces left Kherson.
"He's probably going to spend more time on Twitter than any Tesla investor feels comfortable about." Nov 14 (Reuters) - A look at the day ahead in Asian markets from Jamie McGeever. Asian markets kick off the trading week on Monday, with investors probably still reeling from what was one of the most dramatic weeks in recent market history. The week ahead surely won't be anywhere near as volatile. As market participants regroup, reassess, and re-position, the week ahead is packed with the regular flow of economic data and policymaker speeches. They do not reflect the views of Reuters News, which, under the Trust Principles, is committed to integrity, independence, and freedom from bias.
As of Friday morning, Frisch trailed Boebert by 1,122 votes in the U.S. House race. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report had rated the district as solidly Republican ahead of Tuesday’s election. Trump won the district twice, capturing 53.1% of the vote in 2016 and 52.9% four years later. Boebert has since become a volatile figure within her district, opening the door for Frisch to get close to winning the seat, political experts said. Still, Boebert has a strong core of supporters and was leading Friday as the final votes were being tallied.

PARIS, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Retailers in Europe are having to strike a delicate balancing act with this year's Christmas displays: how to create enough festive sparkle to loosen cash-strapped customers' purse-strings, while acknowledging the impact of the energy crisis. However, the energy crisis has accelerated plans to "reduce consumption to be a good citizen both socially and environmentally", he added. He said the store was moving faster to reach its goal of shifting entirely to LED lighting and began turning lights off at night in September. "It makes a big difference," said Eleanore de Boysson, region president of Europe and the Middle East for LVMH's travel retail division DFS. Other "small" gestures include only partially lighting the store and its offices during early morning cleaning hours, she added.
The stock market just had its best day of the year. We can chalk that up to the Thursday morning inflation data that showed prices cooled faster than expected in October. Specialist trader Chris Malloy (C) gives a price to traders on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, October 18, 2013. As far as a single day is concerned, yesterday looked like a perfect storm for the stock market. Does the latest inflation report change your outlook on the economy or predictions for what the Fed will do next?
