June 19 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge in Florida on Monday ordered defense lawyers for former President Donald Trump not to release evidence in the classified documents case to the media or the public, according to a court filing. The order from U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart also put strict conditions on Trump's access to the materials. It also specified that Trump "shall not retain copies" and that he may only review case materials "under the direct supervision of Defense Counsel or a member of Defense Counsel's staff." Trump, who is the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, was indicted on federal charges earlier this month. He was accused of illegally retaining classified government documents after leaving the White House and then conspiring to obstruct a federal probe of the matter.

The mayor of Paris is forming a committee to look into the cohabitation of the city's citizens with its notorious population of rats. Thomas Samson/AFP/Getty ImagesNot surprisingly, there are some who believe ridding the city of rats with traps and rat poison is utterly inhumane. Companies Bayer AG FollowNEW YORK, June 15 (Reuters) - Bayer AG (BAYGn.DE) agreed on Thursday to pay $6.9 million to settle claims by New York Attorney General Letitia James that it misled consumers by advertising Roundup weedkiller as safe. The settlement resolves accusations that Bayer and its Monsanto unit failed to substantiate their repeated claims about Roundup products containing the active ingredient glyphosate. These claims included that Roundup "won't harm anything but weeds," and "do not pose a threat to the health of animal wildlife." James said Bayer's and Monsanto's advertising violated state laws against false and misleading advertising, and breached Monsanto's 1996 settlement with New York over its advertising of Roundup at the time. The settlement requires Bayer and Monsanto to stop advertising that glyphosate-based Roundup is safe and non-toxic.

NEW YORK/LONDON, June 1 (Reuters) - A bill backed by debt justice campaigners and civil society groups advocating on behalf of economically distressed countries could alter past and future sovereign debt restructurings covered by New York state law - and Wall Street is watching. Senate Bill S4747, the NY Taxpayer and International Debt Crises Protection Act, "relates to New York state's support of international debt relief initiatives for certain developing countries." The initiative has so far failed to accelerate debt relief talks, while private creditors are not even formally included in this initiative. It would "bring badly needed improvements to the framework for resolving unsustainable sovereign debt burdens," according to Nobel Prize-winning U.S. economist Joseph Stiglitz. If this bill passes, "I would recommend issuers not go through New York law, (but) through London or any other jurisdiction," said Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal, professor of banking and finance law at Queen Mary University of London.

A low-cost Canadian upstart airline had four of its planes repossessed by New York-based aircraft lessor Airborne Capital on March 11, forcing the carrier to cancel multiple flights and leaving a trail of disgruntled passengers behind. Flair Airlines CEO Stephen Jones blamed "behind the scenes" scheming between the airline's competitors and Airborne Capital for the repossession of four of Flair's Boeing 737 planes. It's not the first time Flair has clashed with other Canadian airlines. US investment firm 777 Partners owns a 25% stake in Flair Airlines, which was cause for concern for the CTA.

May 24 (Reuters) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Wednesday he is seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, joining former President Donald Trump in a growing list of Republicans seeking to unseat Democratic President Joe Biden. Trump shook his head "no" in apparent disgust when the judge told his lawyer, Todd Blanche, that he risks sanctions and a finding of contempt if he violates the order. "Salaries of ESG and non-ESG personnel started to diverge in 2020, in line with the spike in hiring in ESG roles due to the increasing focus on ESG and sustainable investing in the finance sector," said Loujaina Abdelwahed, an economist at the company. Revelio Labs scraped online professional profiles for people with finance roles in commercial and investment banking and asset management and split them into those with ESG or sustainability in their job titles and those without. Reuters GraphicsSince 2019, the rate of base salary growth for ESG roles has been about 38 percentage points higher than non-ESG personnel, Abdelwahed said. ESG-tagged roles overtook non-ESG on a six-month moving average basis in June 2020 and in August 2021 surged to peak around $109,846, fully $20,000 higher than non-ESG. The gap shrank in the second half of 2021 but grew again into this year: in April 2023 average ESG salaries were $110,348 versus $90,283.
SYDNEY, May 19 (Reuters) - Australia's stock market operator said it will no longer attempt to rebuild its software platform with blockchain-based technology, one of the highest-profile repudiations of the once-feted concept best known for powering cryptocurrency. Until now, ASX has said it may resurrect the project using blockchain-based technology developed by New York-based contractor Digital Asset. Digital Asset, in which ASX bought a small stake after hiring it to rebuild its software in 2016, was not immediately available for comment. Whiteley told the meeting ASX was on track to decide a new strategy by year-end. Market participants had told ASX they did not want a risky, single-date changeover to new software, and "that feedback has been taken into the implementation planning", Whiteley said.

WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - New Jersey's two Democratic senators and the state's governor said on Monday they are seeking to halt a plan by New York City to adopt a congestion pricing plan in Manhattan, which would be the country's first. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker urged U.S. Transportation (USDOT) Secretary Pete Buttigieg not to grant final approval to environmental reviews needed to implement the congestion pricing plan after his department gave a key approval on May 5. Governor Phil Murphy said he would work "to halt implementation of this misguided tolling plan" and said the state is assessing legal options. Earlier this month, USDOT approved release of the final environmental assessment for New York's congestion pricing plan for public review. New York said drivers could face a traffic congestion charge of up to $23 a day.

“Daniel never intended to harm Mr. Neely and could not have foreseen his untimely death,” the statement said. As soon as Neely got on the train, he started yelling about being “fed up and hungry” and “tired of having nothing,” Vazquez told CNN. Neely did not appear to be armed or looking to attack anyone, Vazquez told CNN. In the video recorded by Vazquez, Neely and Penny are seen on the floor of a subway car with Penny’s arm wrapped around Neely’s neck. One appeared to be mediating the situation while the other seemed to help Penny restrain Neely, according to Vazquez.
