RICHFIELD, Minn. (AP) — Travelers in northwestern Minnesota can shake off their trepidation about hitting the winter roads knowing Taylor Drift is clearing a path ahead of them. The snowplow named for Taylor Swift was the runaway winner of Minnesota’s fourth annual Name a Snowplow contest, with eight new names announced Tuesday. Walz thanked the state’s snowplow drivers for braving dangerous conditions, working 12-hour shifts and clearing 200 miles (322 kilometers) or more at a time. The Name a Snowplow contest is a way to personalize both the massive trucks and the people who drive them. One of the nation's leading movie theater chains is making it easy and affordable to watch this year's Academy Award nominees for Best Picture. Moviegoers can purchase a $40 festival pass, which will give them access to all of the nominated films in the week leading up to the Academy Awards show on March 10. Guests who don't buy the pass can still watch any of the nominated films at their local theater's regular pricing. Cinemark is also bundling the live action and animated short nominees into one bundle that viewers will be able to watch for $10. The festival pass is only available online and will not be sold at any Cinemark locations.

CNN —It’s Oscars season and “Barbie” is dominating the discourse. But here’s the thing; “Barbie” is neither smart enough nor interesting enough to be inspiring this level of uproar. It’s also important to remember that “Barbie” has most certainly not been ignored by the Academy Awards’ members. It has eight nominations – which is far more than many of 2023’s other women-directed films got. An animated movie based on the long-running animated children’s series is in development, with Jennifer Lopez attached to executive produce and “In the Heights” star Anthony Ramos set to voice the beloved titular cartoon contractor. CNN —While there has been some head-scratching about some overlooked contenders who weren’t nominated for Oscars for the “Barbie” movie on Tuesday morning, America Ferrera’s wonderfully unexpected best supporting actress nod is certainly one to celebrate. “I’m stunned and so moved to be nominated among the brilliant artists who have done beautiful and important work this year,” Ferrera said in a statement sent to CNN later on Tuesday.
