February full moon peaks this weekend
  + stars: | 2024-02-23 | by ( Taylor Nicioli | Ashley Strickland | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
CNN —February’s full moon, known as the snow moon, is set to peak on Saturday, shining bright around the world in the night sky. It’ll just be a little bit smaller than your average full moon that you look up at.”The full moon phase occurs when the moon, Earth and the sun are in alignment, in that order. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun, completely blocking the sun’s face. A total solar eclipse won’t be visible across the contiguous United States again until August 2044. A lunar eclipse, which causes the moon to look dark or dimmed, occurs when the sun, Earth and moon align so that the moon passes into Earth’s shadow.

She has written a memoir about working for a secretive and wildly prestigious Wall Street hedge fund. Recruiters are one of the main gatekeepers for the hedge fund and private equity industries. I hadn't — but I had heard of Argon, a hedge fund that had long and widely been seen as financial royalty. A leading financial publication had called Carbon the world's hottest hedge fund. Another had named it one of the world's top-performing large hedge funds, ranking it among other hedge fund titans and their flagships, like Ray Dalio's Pure Alpha II and Ken Griffin's Citadel.

AdvertisementInterstellar travel is only something humanity has achieved in science fiction — like Star Trek's USS Enterprise, which used antimatter engines to travel across star systems. "Annihilation of antimatter and matter converts mass directly into energy," Weed, cofounder and CEO of Positron Dynamics, a company working to develop an antimatter propulsion system, told Business Insider. Space travel at record speedProxima's star system, shown here, could be reached in just five years with antimatter-powered technology. For example, let's take a trip to our nearest star system, Proxima, about 4.2 light years away. And since the '80s, there's been talk of thermal antimatter engines, which would use antimatter to heat liquid, gas, or plasma to provide thrust.

Nvidia has been awarded the flagship status of companies leading the artificial intelligence revolution, and all eyes turn to fourth-quarter earnings after the bell Wednesday. The expectations are massive compared to the same quarter last year — and even compared to last quarter's earnings. The massive gains in price reflect this historic growth and the question is will the chart continue its rally following earnings? On Jan. 9 , I wrote about NVDA breaking through the 2023 resistance zone of $500 with targets of $650 in the first half of this year, and $775 in all of 2024. Expectations are for earnings of $4.59 per share vs 88 cents in Q4 of '23 and $4.02 in Q3 of '24.

Mariam Pettit, partner at Global Founders Capital, said the rush toward AI was in part driven by investor FOMO. While investors and industry insiders don't anticipate the same fate for generative AI startups, many see the parallels between the two industries. Indeed, VCs are paying premiums and pre-empting rounds into hot AI startups in a bid to get a place on the cap table. AI founders are aware that they need to differentiate themselves in order to survive, at the very least. "And with vertical AI startups, it's much clearer that all the data we have is approved by the creator of that data."

Whether you should take digestive enzyme supplements depends on several factors, experts say. On its own, the body should produce levels of digestive enzymes sufficient for assimilation of nutrients, Goel said. But when it doesn’t, due to deficiencies evidenced by a stool test a doctor performs, prescription digestive enzymes are the primary treatment. Signs of digestive enzyme deficiencies include diarrhea, stomach pain, bloating, inexplicable weight loss and fatty, oily poop that floats, experts said. Consequently, the only options are to take prescription digestive enzymes or avoid the foods you can’t digest because of your deficiencies.

But this sharp increase “likely reflects changes in surveillance methods rather than change in disease risk,” according to the CDC. The vast majority of Lyme disease cases in the US are reported from just over a dozen jurisdictions in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and upper-Midwest where ticks are particularly prevalent. Despite the significant spike, the number Lyme disease cases that are reported to the CDC is just a fraction of the estimated number of total cases. There are about 476,000 estimated diagnoses of Lyme disease in the US each year – nearly eight times more than even the improved surveillance methods captured in 2022. Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the US, along with Zika virus, West Nile virus, dengue, malaria, plague, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and alpha-gal syndrome.

Their Corporate Credit Fund, which trades under the ticker BCAAX for retail investors, largely focuses on high-yield bonds. The fund currently holds a little over 70% in high-yield bonds, 10% in cash and about 18% in investment-grade bonds. Another inefficiency the managers exploit is the area between low investment-grade bonds and the higher-rated high-yield market, Zox said. Investment-grade portfolio managers are shying away from the lower rated end of the investment-grade market, and high-yield managers are sticking with the higher rated end of the high-yield market, he explained. "We find better values in the lower rated part of the investment-grade market than the higher rated part of the high-yield market," Zox said.

2023 was the year of large-cap stocks, but 2024 may go down as the year small caps made their comeback. Small stocks, big possibilitiesEarlier this year, Bank of America’s head of US small & mid-cap strategy Jill Carey Hall outlined her take on so-called “SMID-cap” stocks in 2024. Her argument is simple: small-cap stocks are cheap, particularly value stocks, and they’re well-positioned to capitalize on market trends this year. Therefore, while small-cap stocks seem substantially cheaper than their large-cap counterparts, careful asset selection is needed, and we think it’s important to focus on quality.”10 best undervalued small-cap stocks to buyThere’s clearly an opportunity to be had in small-cap value stocks, though that opportunity still comes with its own risks.
