New York CNN —Bill Ackman, billionaire hedge fund manager and chief executive of Pershing Square Capital Management, is seeking $2 billion to take the company’s investment fund public. In a letter to strategic partners last week, Ackman said that he expected to raise between $2.5 billion to $4 billion. The company will offer 40 million shares priced at $50 apiece, according to a Tuesday filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. That would be an additional $300 million value for the investment fund, Pershing Square USA. Pershing Square officially hung up its activist megaphone in 2022, opting to work with a small group of companies behind the scenes.

Before his pommel horse routine secured USA Men's Gymnastics its first Olympic medal since 2008, cameras showed Stephen Nedoroscik seemingly napping on the sidelines. The 25-year-old American, who was brought to Paris exclusively to be a pommel horse specialist, had his nation's hopes on his shoulders. "I do it all the time," Nedoroscik told the Washington Post about his habit of visualizing. "I don't think I actually use my eyes on pommel horse," he said. Read previewAn Olympics ad from Google depicting a father using its Gemini AI assistant to help his daughter compose a letter to her favorite athlete has drawn sharp criticism from online commentators. Google's "Dear Sydney" spot first aired on TV during the broadcast of the opening ceremony on July 24 and is also available on YouTube. Related stories"It follows a coherent story, focuses on characters with agency and vitality, and prioritizes people over the product," said Jon Evans, System1 chief customer officer, of Google's ad. Still, several ad experts have said Google's marketing department — which created the ad in-house rather than using an ad agency — should have done a better job of reading the room. The "Dear Sydney" spot was still airing on US TV on Tuesday morning, according to the measurement firm iSpot.

Still, as the U.S. men’s team starts its Olympic run Sunday, it begins with a roster that has drawn countless comparisons to the Dream Team. On paper, the U.S. men’s team is arguably the best team assembled since 1992. Durant is the most prolific scorer in U.S. men’s history and could, if the Americans win gold in Paris, become the most decorated Olympic men’s basketball player. A loss in the knockout stages, when there are no more second chances, and a Dream Team redux becomes a historic nightmare. In that scenario, the U.S. men’s team would be remembered forever, even if not quite held in the same reverence as the Dream Team.
