A Canadian military surveillance aircraft detected underwater noises as a massive search continued early Wednesday in a remote part of the North Atlantic for a submersible that vanished while taking five people down to the wreck of the Titanic. The Coast Guard wrote on Twitter that a Canadian P-3 Orion had "detected underwater noises in the search area." "The data from the P-3 aircraft has been shared with our U.S. Navy experts for further analysis which will be considered in future search plans," the Coast Guard said. However, no official has publicly suggested that's the case and noises underwater can come from a variety of sources.

“The submersible industry had significant concerns over the strategy of building a deep sea expedition submersible without following existing classification safety guidelines,” Mr. Kohnen said. OceanGate said in the post that because its Titan craft was so innovative, it could take years to get it certified by leading assessment agencies. “Bringing an outside entity up to speed on every innovation before it is put into real-world testing is anathema to rapid innovation,” the company wrote. So, if you don’t need immediate access to your savings, it may make sense to lock in current interest rates with a CD. And while the pace of price increases remains well above the Fed’s preferred level of 2%, the central bank fears that raising interest rates any more could tip the fragile economy into recession. The likely explanation is that banks expect interest rates to decrease and don’t want to be locked into paying higher rates for extended periods of time. It’s true that if CD rates are, say, 3% a couple of years from now, then a 4.5% yield will look very good. And because falling interest rates tend to drive up bond prices, that’s what they’d likely do.

The price of bitcoin is testing a pivotal level that could determine whether strength or weakness is ahead. The cryptocurrency needs to decisively clear $30,000 to test its $35,200 resistance level, according to Fairlead Strategies. If bitcoin can decisively clear that threshold, Stockton expects the cryptocurrency to trend toward its key resistance level at $35,900, representing potential upside of 24%. While Stockton is bearish on bitcoin in the short term and bullish on bitcoin in the intermediate term, she remains neutral on the cryptocurrency for the long term, proving just how mixed the technical outlook for bitcoin is. "We are long-term neutral despite improved intermediate-term momentum given the additional hurdle from the monthly cloud... the cloud is now a headwind, acting as long-term resistance," Stockton said.
