Some researchers, however, are now fighting back and developing new ways to protect people’s photos and images from AI’s grasp. The prototype, dubbed PhotoGuard, puts an invisible “immunization” over images that stops AI models from being able to manipulate the picture. The aim of PhotoGuard is to protect photos that people upload online from “malicious manipulation by AI models,” Salman said. But he said he hopes that with more engineering efforts, the prototype can be turned into a larger product that can be used to protect images. While generative AI tools “allow us to do amazing stuff, it comes with huge risks,” Salman said.

International travel demand is outpacing domestic demand as Americans flock to Europe in 2023. Our international wanderlust may be a worrying trend for domestic airlines — but it makes now the perfect time to buy flights for fall and winter vacations within the US. Low-cost carriers Spirit Airlines , Frontier Airlines , and JetBlue Airways had similar outlooks. Redburn analyst James Goodall said Monday that domestic airlines are likely to feel this pressure for not just months, but years, Barron's reported . Nicholas Coyle/Handout via REUTERSSYDNEY, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Australian journalist Cheng Lei, detained in China on national security charges, has described how standing in sunlight for just 10 hours a year feels in a "love letter" to her country. Her first public statement since her arrest came in what she called a "love letter to 25 million people" which was dictated to consular staff during a visit and released by her partner. The Australian government has repeatedly raised concerns about her detention, which came as China widened blocks on Australian exports amid a diplomatic dispute that is gradually easing. Bloomberg reported that the new iPhone 15 will have "thinner bezels." That the fanfare is around thin phone borders really goes to show just how underwhelming the new model's changes could be. The new iPhone 15 could have its bezel — the border around a phone's screen — shrink from 2.2 millimeters to 1.5 millimeters. Aside from the barely there bezels, Bloomberg also shared a list of other changes that could come with the iPhone 15. Apple typically releases new iPhone models in September, but the company hasn't yet announced the new phone's release date.

CNN —Two tourists who snapped selfies with dingoes have been fined more than $1,500 each for taking the “extremely dangerous decision” to interact with the native wild dogs following a recent spate of ferocious attacks, Australian authorities said. An image provided by the department showed an unnamed New South Wales woman, 29, laying down next to a pack of sleeping dingo pups. The other tourist, a 25-year-old Queensland woman, appeared in a selfie video posted to social media that showed her with a growling dingo, “which was clearly exhibiting dominance-testing behaviour,” he said. The dingo in this tourist's video clearly showed dominance-testing behaviour, authorities said. It had also been involved in recent biting incidents that led to the hospitalization of a 6-year-old girl, the department said.
